The Kenya National Chess Championship 2025 is the country’s premier elite chess event, bringing together Kenya’s top-ranked and best-performing players in a highly competitive, invitation-only championship. Organized by the Chess Kenya Federation, the tournament also serves as the official National Team Selection Qualifier, determining Kenya’s representatives to major international competitions, including the 2026 World Chess Olympiad.
The championship features Open and Ladies sections, both played in a single round-robin format under FIDE-rated regulations, ensuring fairness, transparency, and the highest competitive standards. Players qualify through a structured Grand Prix system conducted across multiple counties, reflecting consistent performance and merit throughout the season. Beyond crowning the National Champions, the event showcases excellence, discipline, and the continued growth of competitive chess in Kenya.
