*Talent is Never Enough*
I first stumbled on the above words on the title of a book by John C. Maxwell.
John reiterates on the importance of attitude and discipline in the upward journey of success among other fundamentals of growth
On the backdrop of the above, I recently found myself reading the book ‘MindSets’ by Carol Dweck
Am amazed at the insights…..
1. I have a choice
2. Talent is natured
3. Mistakes are part of learning and growth
4. If I don’t give it a shot, I’ll never know my capabilities
5. Consistency compounds; small habits everyday
I choose to grow, I choose to learn from my mistakes, I choose to give it a shot and I choose growth mindset

I did’t see Gen Z, I saw thousands of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.s
They have a dream, they have resolve and they are willing to die for it.
Am ashamed I din’t have this courage when I was their age.
I pray for wisdom for all: the leadership and the people of Kenya.

Alert - long post!
Some time in the month of December 2021, I felt I had entertained some people richly endowed with negativity longer that they were welcomed.I needed to ‘detox from the negative energy’ and redeem back my faith, courage, passion, zeal, energy, stretch myself and just see if I can navigate in unfamiliar l/new territory (foreign places) and thrive.
From Nairobi at midday, I hit the road, driving alone. First stop -Namanga boarder. I had lunch and afew niceties with a stranger or two at the restaurant. One gentleman asked if I was on transit and my response ‘am going to Amboseli National Park’. “ At this time?” he exclaimed! “its just 50km from here not too far.” was my ‘naive’ response.
Just so you know, I have never been to Amboseli before. So it was pure adventure, alone! I hit the road towards Amboseli National Park from Namaga at around 3:15pm. Its an all weather road. Was still excited! Saw afew maasai women by the road side about 2 km into the weather road ‘rough road’ and a Subaru forester with some 2 ‘Mzungu’ white couple coming from the direction of the park passed by.
About 4 km from Namanga town, a tourist land cruiser overtook me at high speed. Could not much even half of it. I was enjoying the adventure driving at 50 km/hr per hour. Why would I want to spoil my bliss? Then about 7km from Namanga town, I realised the rubble weather road could not allow me to keep up the speed. I slowed down to 20km/hr.
I drove while listening to some music from my favorite radio station and some Christmas carols. About an hour into my journey from the boarder town, radio switched to Tanzania stations while I received notification from the Office of Kenya High Commissioner to Tanzania’s office welcoming me to TZ and requesting me to register at the High commissioner’s office. I got welcome text messages from Vodafone Tz and Airtel Tz.
Another hour went by since the tour van had passed. Am now 2 hours deep into this journey. I had not seen any other vehicle on this road nor a human being. Just afew birds, antelopes and Girraffes. I tensed! I kept driving on this weather road towards the park. Remember am alone, driving to a destination I have never been to, the radio is broadcasting Tz stations, and both my cell phone lines seem to have TZ reception (both celphones are on pay plans so can not make calls while roaming, I need to make pro arrangements ) no sight of human being, no sight of any other car…and am deep into this 2 hours and counting…
By now I know am too deep in to it to retract and return…..
…..to be continued…..

Warning: Long read
WHY ARE YOU WITH HIM IF HE DOES NOT MAKE YOU HAPPY?
Does he make you happy?
Who?
Your sweetheart?
No?
Really!
Affirmatively Positive. He doesn’t make me happy!
So why are you still with him?
Let me tell you a story…
Late 2016, I went through a difficult time. Two of my most closest friends in more than 20 years cumulatively took a step back from my life. I was devastated, lonely and terribly hurt. How could they. I had done nothing wrong but they took a step back and concentrated on their lives.
They looked happy and I, miserable! No one wanted to be my friend or so I thought. I did not only push everyone who tried to come into my life away but threw them of from my ‘sky’
After 1 year and some months into counseling psychotherapy, my eyes were opened. No one can make the little girl inside of me happy except ME!
In 2018, I made a decision…
I chose to make the vulnerable girl inside of me as far as I could, always happy! This journey included making a choice to do things that make her happy regardless of if others joined me or not. Some of them are these:
I choose in the morning to be happy
I choose to be happy on Mondays and next month and the next too
I choose to like people I meet even before I get to know them
I choose to walk away from negative people
I choose to do personal business with people who treat others with respect
I choose repeat meetings with happy people
I choose to listen to and read success stories
I choose to smile or even laugh from the heart when speaking on phone
A colleague in my new work place refers to me as ‘The happy soul’ he continued to tell onother ‘If you are with Ruth and there is gloom, you are the problem’
I choose to be content, alive in the moment and be happy!
Signature laughter like my grandma

Men are developed the same way gold is mined. When gold is mined, several tons of dirt must be moved to get an ounce of gold; but one doesn't go into the mine looking for dirt—one goes in looking for the gold.
