Dearest Sculpt Family,

The time has come; time to say goodbye to our baby

Thank you all for standing by us and a big thank you to our amazing trainers. We truly were one big family.

We had a dream, to create a space where people would walk in with a smile. A place they’d call home, their passion for fitness would be ignited and even this who shied away from lifting a weight would find a deep love for every rep. We had a dream to change lives, uplift moods, instill confidence.

We created that space. We changed lives and we saw more progress, more transformation than we could have ever imagined.

Our dream came true.

And as hard as it is to say good bye, the time for our fitness babies to go off on their own and find comfort in a different home. This is the hardest thing we have had to do but our hearts are filled with love and gratitude for all those that came through our Sculpt home. For sharing your love and energy with us. We are grateful for the lives we touched. Thank you for helping us make our dream come true.

Be blessed and keep going. Strong. For life.

Body Positive or Body Neutral?

Everyone is familiar with the term ‘body positivity’ which means loving your body, and feeling good in it no matter what it looks or feels like.

However this buzz word and it’s concept still places more focus on the aesthetic or non-aesthetic aspect of the body, creating pressure to ‘love your body’ no matter what, rather than promote the appreciation of the immense value that the body actually provides in terms of movement, and day to day living.

This is where the relatively new concept of ‘body neutrality’ comes in. Body Neutrality promotes a more ‘realistic’ way of accepting that, even if you don’t ‘love’ your body, while you’re working on it, you can still appreciate all that it can do, no matter how little or how much.

As with everything, the key is balance; no need to take sides, so be both BODY POSITIVE and LOVE your body on the good days when you feel it, AND also be BODY NEUTRAL on the not so great days, and APPRECIATE all that your body does and can do! 💪🏼💪🏼

“Stimulate, not Annihilate..”- Lee Haney.

A lot of people will walk into a gym and feel intimidated because they think they need to go ‘balls to the wall’, and do advanced movements, huge lifts, or lots of volume (sets, reps, exercises), and/or then go on a stringent , over-excessive diet.

However what they learn, with time, is that actually , what they SHOULD do is basic movements, correct form on fewer reps as opposed to trying to get a certain prescribed number of reps and losing form as they tire, proper sleep and nutrition.

The ‘no pain no gain’ mentality works for some, but for the average fitness person, lying on the floor bruised and beaten by a workout is NOT a good indicator that the workout was effective.

When you leave the gym you actually want to feel better than when you first walked in, not worse!

You need to find a balance and maintain that fine line between training, and ‘overtraining’.

This is where a good coach can help you, by making sure you train according to your own personal needs and abilities; and here we have excellent coaches who do exactly that!

Hey!

Just because you’re lifting the 5kg dumbbell, and the dude or gal next to you is lifting the 25kg, doesn’t mean that you aren’t working just as hard as they are.

Remember 👇🏼

The muscle doesn’t know numbers, it knows ‘work intensity’ and if you’re giving 100% when you lift that 5kg, then you’re working just as hard as the person lifting the 20kg at 100%.

Makes sense?

So,

💪🏼 BE PATIENT.

💪🏼 WORK HARD.

💪🏼 WORK SMART.

💪🏼JUST DO YOUR 💯 (and not anyone else’s k?😉)💪🏼

Achieving your fitness goals successfully isn’t always a glittery road paved with gold..

Most of the results that you will see, come slowly, from the daily repetition of the most basic and sometimes most monotonous movements you will do on a regular basis.

For example, if you want to be hydrated, you know you have to drink water daily, as boring as that may be.

Same goes for fitness goals.

It’s not what you see in the dramatic IG video, or the photo with perfect lighting that gets results.

Instead it’s the basic, mundane, repetitive movements that yield results, one workout at a time, one week at a time, and on.

That’s probably why it’s called a ‘routine’.

It’s also called consistency, and showing up to do the thing that you sometimes just don’t want to do.

Some days, everything will click; the pump will come fast, the BCAAS taste great, the music in the gym is just right, and the workout just flows.

That’s a great day, but realistically and unfortunately, not everyday can look or feel like that.

On those ‘not so great days’ just show up regardless, do what little is needed and necessary to get you moving, no matter what. Do the basics.
