IMPACT by Sucafina-IMPACT is a sustainability standard, which consists of a set of requirements that provide assurance that farmers, cooperatives and others in the value chain are producing coffee in line with the most fundamental aspects of responsible sourcing, such as human rights and adherence to local laws. IMPACT is based on the Coffee Sustainability Reference Code (Coffee SR Code), and has been recognized by the Global Coffee Platform as Coffee SR Code Equivalent, 2nd party assurance. Upcoming VRS Updates for 2026 Transition Period Verifications
๐ฃ Attention C.A.F.E. Practices Clients & Auditors โ Important Update for 2026 Transition Period Verifications
Starting February 2, 2026, we're introducing key updates to how Major and Minor indicators are reported in the Verification Reporting System (VRS) during Transition Period verifications.
๐ Whatโs Changing?
1๏ธโฃ "Opportunity for Improvement" (OFI) Evaluations Will Require Evidence
When an inspector identifies an OFI for a Major or Minor indicator, they must now document evidence details and select at least one source of evidence in the VRS. This change supports clearer, more transparent reporting.
2๏ธโฃ New "Indicator Not Evaluated" Option Available
A new checkbox will allow suppliers to opt out of evaluating specific Major/Minor indicatorsโbut only if they communicate this before the inspection. In these cases, no evidence is required.
โ ๏ธ Note: This option is only available when "Opportunity for Improvement" is selected.
๐ Why This Matters
These updates are designed to enhance consistency, transparency, and accountability in our verification process. They ensure that all findings are well-documented and that supplier choices regarding evaluation are clearly recorded.
โ
What You Need to Know
โข If you are a client considering opting out of indicator evaluations, you must inform your verification team prior to the inspection.
โข Auditors/Inspectors should be ready to gather evidence for all Major/Minor OFI evaluations moving forward.
โข For ongoing verifications, additional guidance is available to align with the new process.
๐
Timeline & Next Steps
โข Effective Date: Monday, February 2, 2026
โข Review these updates with your team to prepare for upcoming
โข Transition Period verifications.
Questions? Reach out to the verification body or designated contact person.
Let's work together to ensure a smooth and transparent transition!
