“Today, as we celebrate Mashujaa Day, we honour the men and women who have contributed to our nation’s growth and those who continue to inspire us through their courage, sacrifice and dedication.

At the Kenya National Paralympic Committee (KNPC), we celebrate our para-athletes who continue to make Kenya proud through their hard work, determination and achievements both at home and on the international stage. Their stories remind us of the importance of creating opportunities for every athlete to develop their talent and pursue their dreams.

As we honour our heroes, let us also recognise the champions among us who continue to push boundaries and fly our national flag high.

Our super the 2022 Commonwealth Games lightweight bronze medallist, Hellen Wawira, missed the medal bracket by a whisker, finishing fourth in personal best 104.4kgs. Esther Nworgu (119kg) and Esther Oyema (115.5kg) made it a 1-2 for Nigerian with Olivia Broome (106.6) taking bronze for England.

Our powerlifters have landed in Glasgow, Scotland ahead of the Commonwealth Games starting July 23 to August 3 in the Scottish capital. They include the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games bronze medallist, Joyce Njuguna, the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games bronze medallist, Hellen Wawira, Rahab Nyambura and Jeremiah Maringa.
