A lot of people are not investing....

A man once shared with me how he lost KSh 2.4 million.
Years and years of savings.

๐—š๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ฒ.

Not because he was foolish.
Not because he was lazy.
Not because he didnโ€™t work hard.

But because he trusted emotionally.

A friend told him:

And because:
โ€ข someone he trusted recommended it
โ€ข the returns sounded exciting
โ€ข other people were joining
โ€ฆhe put ALL his money there.

No due diligence.
No difficult questions.
No research.
No understanding of risk.

Eight months later, the SACCO collapsed.

Imagine saving for yearsโ€ฆ then standing in a DCI line on Kiambu Road trying to recover your life savings... eiii.... chest pains tu!

This is why I keep saying: ๐—ง๐—ฟ๐˜‚๐˜€๐˜ ๐—ถ๐˜€ ๐™‰๐™Š๐™ ๐—ฑ๐˜‚๐—ฒ ๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐—น๐—ถ๐—ด๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐—ฒ, and ๐—ณ๐—ฎ๐—บ๐—ถ๐—น๐—ถ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐˜๐˜† ๐—ถ๐˜€ ๐™‰๐™Š๐™ ๐˜€๐—ฎ๐—ณ๐—ฒ๐˜๐˜†.

A lot of Kenyans invest based on:
โ€ข โ€œmy cousin works thereโ€
โ€ข โ€œmy chama joinedโ€
โ€ข โ€œmy church members investedโ€
โ€ข โ€œeveryone is doing forexโ€
โ€ข โ€œthis one is giving crazy returnsโ€

Meanwhile many people are terrified of stock markets because of stories from 2008 that didnโ€™t even happen to them directly.

So what happens?
People avoid learningโ€ฆ then run toward hype instead.

Fear and greed are exhausting financial advisors.

The truth is: Wealth building is usually slower, calmer and more disciplined than social media makes it look.

Research matters.
Diversification matters.
Understanding risk matters.

And emotional discipline matters even more.

Happy Monday y'all!!

A thought after ... A lot of mothers are quietly tired... not just physically - financially too.

You spend years making sure:
โ€ข school fees is paid
โ€ข birthdays happen
โ€ข uniforms fit and socks have no holes
โ€ข everyone is okay

Then one day you realize
โ€ข You know your childโ€™s shoe sizeโ€ฆ but not your retirement plan.
โ€ข You know everyoneโ€™s needsโ€ฆ but not your own investment strategy.

And somehow society made women feel noble for postponing themselves indefinitely... you know what I'm talking about... that resentful false humility mmh ๐Ÿ˜?

But hereโ€™s the truth: being selfless should not leave you financially vulnerable later.

You do not need to become a millionaire overnight but by jove! You need a plan ma'am!!
Start small:
โ€ข save intentionally
โ€ข learn investing slowly
โ€ข ask questions - no one knows everything, even the best of us!
โ€ข build an emergency fund
โ€ข understand where your money goes
โ€ข read one good financial literacy book - strongly recommend .karinahicks financial blueprint - Moneywise: bit.ly/MoneyWiseBook

Because financial confidence is not built in one dramatic moment.
โ€ข Itโ€™s built quietly.
Repeatedly.
Intentionally.

And no mother should reach 60 having carried everybodyโ€ฆ but never carried her future too.

๐Ÿ“˜ If youโ€™ve been looking for a practical starting point, *MoneyWise: Create, Grow & Preserve Wealth* is a powerful guide for this journey.

Question: Why do women find it easier to care for everyone else than plan financially for themselves?

Happy Motherโ€™s Day Mamas ๐Ÿ’

Letโ€™s be honestโ€ฆ African mums are financial magicians.

You give her KSh 1,500 and suddenly:
โ€ข thereโ€™s food for the whole week
โ€ข guests have been fed
โ€ข uniforms have been sorted
โ€ข and somehowโ€ฆ she still asks you โ€œ๐˜ถ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฌ๐˜ถ๐˜ญ๐˜ข?โ€ ๐Ÿ˜ญ

No one knows.

But hereโ€™s the part we donโ€™t talk about: She has spent her whole life making sure everyone else is okay.
Yet, many timesโ€ฆno one stops to ask if she is financially okay.

Mum will negotiate with landlords, shopkeepers, fundis, even inflation itself ๐Ÿ˜‚
โ€ฆbut when it comes to her own future?

This month, letโ€™s change that.

Question: What's a fun memory your have of your mom or mother figure regarding money that makes you smile to this day?

08/05/2026

African mums are honestly hedge fund managers in disguise ๐Ÿ˜‚

๐˜”๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ๐˜บ can:
- feed 8 people with โ€œhakuna food kwa nyumbaโ€
- detect wasting electricity instantly
- negotiate tomatoes like a procurement officer

โ€ฆbut still says: โ€œ๐™’๐™ช๐™š๐™š๐™š๐™!

Truthfully, many women already have:
โ€ข budgeting skills
โ€ข planning skills
โ€ข crisis management skills
โ€ข resource allocation skills

That ๐™„๐™Ž financial intelligence.

The next step is simply learning how to apply it to wealth building intentionally.

Also please:
Stop taking investment advice like gospel because โ€œsomeone said itโ€™s giving returns.โ€ majameni... ๐Ÿ˜…

Learn first. Ask questions. Understand your risk.

QUESTION:
Whatโ€™s the most โ€œAfrican mumโ€ thing your mother does with money? ๐Ÿ˜‚

06/05/2026

Let me tell you something most people wonโ€™t sayโ€ฆ ๐™”๐™ค๐™ช๐™ง ๐™™๐™ž๐™จ๐™–๐™ฅ๐™ฅ๐™ค๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™ฉ๐™ข๐™š๐™ฃ๐™ฉ ๐™ž๐™ฃ ๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™ซ๐™š๐™จ๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œ ๐™ž๐™จ ๐™˜๐™ค๐™ข๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œ ๐™›๐™ง๐™ค๐™ข ๐™ฎ๐™ค๐™ช๐™ง ๐™š๐™ญ๐™ฅ๐™š๐™˜๐™ฉ๐™–๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™จ.

Hear me out...

You invest 100,000.
In your mind?
Youโ€™re already calculating 30K profit... ๐Ÿ˜…

Then the actual return comesโ€ฆAnd suddenly:

But hereโ€™s the truth:

Someone with 100K in a bond and someone with 1.2M in a bond live in two different realities.

Same investment -

Wealth is not about jumping into big returns. Itโ€™s about:
โ€ข building discipline
โ€ข accumulating
โ€ข growing slowly

Even 3,500 saved consistently can change your life.

Because how you behave with littleโ€ฆ Is how you behave with a lot.

Reality check: You donโ€™t need better investments, you need better expectations.

Let me say something that might annoy you a little this Monday

See the question โ€œ๐™’๐™๐™š๐™ง๐™š ๐™จ๐™๐™ค๐™ช๐™ก๐™™ ๐™„ ๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™ซ๐™š๐™จ๐™ฉ?โ€ is the wrong question - not because itโ€™s a bad question, no, but because itโ€™s incomplete.

Most people asking it are doing this:
You have KSh 20k or 30k extra
โ€ข You want it to โ€œgrowโ€
You ask around
You get 5 different answers
โ€ข You try 2โ€ฆ get confusedโ€ฆ stop

Hereโ€™s whatโ€™s actually happening: Youโ€™re chasing options without understanding your direction

So your money ends up:
โ€ข everywhere
โ€ข inconsistent
โ€ข hard to track
โ€ข not really growing

Before you ask where, ask:
๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿพ What is this money for?
๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿพ When will I need it?
๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿพ Can I leave it alone?

Then:
Start building (MMF, treasury bills)
Grow it consistently
โ€ข Hit your first KSh 500kโ€ฆ then 1M
THEN start exploring bigger opportunities

Because this is the truth nobody tells you: Managing small scattered amounts is harder than building one strong pool.

You donโ€™t need 7 investments, you need clarity + consistency.

Quick question this Monday:

Happy Labour Day Folks!

Please rest today. Sleep in. Eat well. Ignore emails if possible ๐Ÿ˜‚
But somewhere between the nyama choma and afternoon nap, take personal stock.

Many hardworking people are one scary truth away from panic:

Ask yourself:
Am I building wealth or just paying bills?
What am I doing for retirement right now?
If I stopped working, what income remains?
Is my future protected or postponed?
We cannot work all our lives then leave old age to guesswork.

Rest, yes, but reflect too. Because tomorrowโ€™s peace is built by todayโ€™s decisions.

Do you think most people plan for retirement seriouslyโ€ฆ or just hope for the best?

Some women are not just ignoring finances for the sake of it... They are busy saving the whole world except themselves - replying emails, paying school fees, cooking supper, checking homework, calming toddlers, showing up at workโ€ฆ then collapsing tired.

Then someone says: โ€œ๐™”๐™ค๐™ช ๐™จ๐™๐™ค๐™ช๐™ก๐™™ ๐™—๐™š ๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™ซ๐™š๐™จ๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œ ๐™ข๐™ค๐™ง๐™š.โ€ Kindly relax ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…

The issue is not laziness, it's overload.

But sis, hear me with love: Your future cannot stay at the bottom of the list forever.
Even in a busy season, do one thing:
Save KSh 500
Delegate one task
Learn one money concept
Open one MMF

Small moves matter.

You donโ€™t need a perfect season, you just need the next right step.

Be honest: what delays women more, lack of money, lack of knowledge, or lack of support?

27/04/2026

Sisโ€ฆ if the WiFi password changes and you panic, ๐™ž๐™ข๐™–๐™œ๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™š ๐™ฃ๐™ค๐™ฉ ๐™ ๐™ฃ๐™ค๐™ฌ๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œ ๐™ฌ๐™๐™š๐™ง๐™š ๐™ฉ๐™๐™š ๐™›๐™–๐™ข๐™ž๐™ก๐™ฎ ๐™ข๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™š๐™ฎ ๐™ž๐™จ...

We might chuckle at this but let's get serious for a quick minute. Many women have been taught:

All good... right?

But what happens if:
Job loss happens?
Sickness happens?
Death happens?
Separation happens?
โ€ข Life simply ๐™ก๐™ž๐™›๐™š๐™จ?

Then suddenly you are grieving and Googling simultaneously โ€œ๐˜ฉ๐˜ฐ๐˜ธ ๐˜ต๐˜ฐ ๐˜ด๐˜ต๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ต ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜ท๐˜ฆ๐˜ด๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จโ€ in the same week.

Imagine no.

Love your man. Respect your father. Appreciate support - but also know:
โ€ข what bills cost
โ€ข what comes in
โ€ข what goes out
โ€ข where savings are
โ€ข what debt exists
โ€ข what your own plan is

Being feminine does not require being financially absent.

Start with one question tonight:
