Strength isn't only about how much weight you can move , it's also about how well you can control your body while moving it.
Slower, intentional reps give you time to feel the movement, maintain your form, stay connected to the muscles doing the work and notice where you're compensating.
Life With Tess
Women’s wellness systems. Nutrition, habits & supportive movement designed for consistency.
Balance is a skill.
Physically, we build it by teaching the body to adjust, stabilise and respond when the ground beneath us isn't perfectly steady.
Wellness isn't that different.Life will move. Routines will change. Some weeks will be beautifully structured; others won't go according to plan at all.
The goal isn't to create a life where nothing ever throws you off balance.
The skill is learning how to adjust without completely losing yourself.
How quickly can you find your footing again?
How well can you adapt without abandoning everything?
Can you remain grounded while things around you change?
That's balance.
And just like the body, the more you practise it, the better you become at it.

If you’ve been eating all over the place lately and you can feel that you need to get back into structure, this is for you.

Most people will look at these two pictures and immediately look at the stomach.
As her coach, I don’t. I look at the whole picture.
I look at where she’s losing body fat. I look at changes around the waist and midsection. I look at how her clothes sit. I look at whether she’s retaining muscle as her body becomes smaller. And then I compare what I’m seeing with the things a photograph cannot tell me ;her measurements, weight trend, nutrition, movement, strength, sleep, consistency and how she’s actually feeling.
Because a transformation photo is evidence of progress, not the entire story of progress.
This is also why I tell women not to become obsessed with one body part.
Your body doesn’t receive an instruction that says, “Okay, this week let’s remove fat from the lower belly.” 😅
Fat loss happens across the body, and different areas change at different rates. Sometimes the place you’re watching most closely is actually the last place you notice a dramatic difference.
What you can control is the environment you create for change:
✅Nourish yourself well.
✅Control your portions.
✅Strength train.
✅Walk.
✅Sleep.
✅Recover.
Repeat.
Then give your body enough time and consistency to respond.
The difference between these two photographs wasn’t created by one perfect week. It was created by enough ordinary days done well.
That’s the work. That’s the transformation. 💚

Eating clean and eating for weight loss are not the same thing.
You can eat nutritious, balanced meals every day and still maintain, or even gain weight if your portions don't support a calorie deficit.
Food quality matters. Quantity matters too.
If your goal is to eat healthier, focus on the quality of your meals. If your goal is weight loss, you also have to pay attention to how much you're eating.
You don't necessarily need to obsess over calories, but you do need a portion system that supports your goal.
Healthy eating asks: “What am I eating?”
Weight loss also asks: “How much?”
Same healthy foods. Different portions. Different outcomes. ❤️
This video captures the exact moment failure creeps in, your last set. Your form slips slightly. Your grip gives out. Every fibre of your body wants to drop the weight and walk away.
Most people think fitness lives and dies in this exact moment of maximum effort. They believe that if you do not crush every single set with flawless intensity, you are failing, but that mindset burns you out in three months.
𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱
You do not need a PR (personal record) every time you step into the room. You do not need to destroy yourself until you collapse.
𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗳𝗹𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀- Some days you feel strong. Other days, you feel heavy and slow.
𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀- Chasing an impossible standard makes you quit when life gets messy.
𝗜𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝘀- Real transformation happens when you stop viewing fitness as a test and start viewing it as a habit.
Becoming smeone who shows up to the workout matters.
Pushing through the burn on your final dumbbell row matters, but learning how to keep showing up through different seasons of your life matters infinitely more.
𝗕𝘂𝘀𝘆 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀: : You shorten the workout to twenty minutes instead of skipping it entirely.
𝗧𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀: You lift lighter weights just to keep the nervous system engaged and the routine alive.
𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀: You use the gym as an anchor when the rest of your world feels chaotic.
When you struggle on that final rep, remember it is not a sign of weakness. It is proof that you are working, but the real victory is not finishing the set today. It is knowing you will come back and do it again tomorrow, next month, and ten years from now.

Results are exciting. But I’m increasingly more interested in what someone has to do repeatedly to create them.
This wasn’t one perfect week. It was ordinary decisions made often enough to become visible.
Knowing what to do and consistency in doing it will forever be the cheat code 🫶🏽
