Grounded in the AEA Vision 2066 aspiration of "The Africa God Wants," the Association of Evangelicals in Africa formally launched the AEA Health Commission on September 23, 2026, at the ARCC Auditorium, in the AEA Plaza. The landmark gathering convened key church leaders, healthcare professionals, and development partners committed to strengthening health systems across the continent.

The establishment of the AEA Health Commission comes at a critical juncture for Africa, which continues to carry a heavy burden of disease and fragile healthcare infrastructure. Rather than relying indefinitely on external assistance, the AEA Health Commission establishes a framework for African-led solutions, accountability, and sustainable local action.

In his remarks, the AEA General Secretary Dr. Master Matlhaope challenged the perception of continental fragility, asserting that Africa is not destined to remain poor, dependent, divided, or sick. He affirmed that the establishment of the Health Commission signals the Church’s readiness to assume greater leadership in continental health governance.

The AEA Health Commission Board Chair; Dr. Florence Muindi reflected on the conviction driving the initiative, noting that the combination of deep passion for Africa and vision-driven action makes a healthier continent entirely achievable.
By partnering with Christian healthcare workers, public authorities, and global allies, the AEA Health Commission is dedicated to delivering transparent, accountable, and scientifically sound healthcare solutions to the least, the last, and the disadvantaged.

The Secretary General of the Association of Evangelicals in Africa (AEA) Dr. Master Matlhaope, was featured by Botswana's Guardian Sun in a feature titled "From Shepherd Boy to Chancellor."

The piece traces his remarkable journey — from herding cattle in the village of Kalkfontein to now serving as both Chancellor of Africa International University - AIU and Secretary General/CEO of AEA

Key highlights from the feature:
🔹 His rural upbringing and the discipline instilled by his father that shaped his leadership philosophy
🔹 A journey from Bible college to a PhD (with research at Cambridge), driven by a desire to bridge theology and Africa's socio-economic realities
🔹 Prior leadership roles in Botswana, including President of the Evangelical Fellowship of Botswana (EFB) and founding Chair of BONECCO
🔹 Launching the Chancellor Fund, as AIU Chancellor, to boost scholarships, research and infrastructure
🔹 Helping restore AEA's PEMA media production centre in Côte d'Ivoire and supported displaced families in Goma, DRC, including Upendo School now serving 266 children
🔹 His conviction that education must be paired with values, integrity and moral responsibility

A proud moment for AEA and a powerful reminder that humble beginnings can carry anyone onto the continental stage. 🌍

The violence faced by Christians and other vulnerable groups across Sub-Saharan Africa is unprecedented and devastating. From the destruction of homes and churches in Mozambique to the tragic loss of over 2,550 believers in Nigeria during the first half of 2026 alone, the physical and emotional toll on our communities is staggering. Millions are being driven from their homes, facing extreme poverty, displacement, and the loss of their livelihoods. But even in the face of such darkness, believers hold onto the hope of peace, and we must stand with them.

The Arise Africa Campaign is mobilizing the global community to take definitive action. We are calling on international bodies to ensure our brothers and sisters are treated with the dignity they deserve, focusing heavily on three core demands:

Protection: Providing robust protection from violent and military attacks.

Justice: Ensuring justice through fair prosecutions of the attackers.

Restoration: Bringing healing and restoration to all affected communities. The church remains at risk unless we act.

We urgently need to reach our goal of 200,000 signatures to present this powerful call-to-action to the African Union, the United Nations, and national governments by the end of 2026.

Take action today. Add your voice to the petition to stop the violence and start the healing.

Reconstrução: Proporcionar cura e reconstrução a todas as comunidades afetadas.

Generosity is not first a financial issue. It is a discipleship issue. It is a matter of the heart, stewardship and obedience.

Today, the Evangelical Alliance of Kenya - EAK and the Association of Evangelicals in Africa - AEA hosted a Share the Light Generosity Breakfast at AEA Plaza, bringing together more than 100 Christian leaders.

The room brought together pastors and leaders who carry the responsibility of shepherding churches, shaping communities and advancing the mission of God.

Together, we asked an important question:

What would it look like for the Church in Africa to embrace generosity as a way of life?

The conversation was not simply about raising money. It was about cultivating hearts that understand that everything we have is entrusted to us by God, and that our resources, influence, relationships and opportunities can all become instruments for His purposes.

For a Church with such a significant assignment in Africa, the question of stewardship cannot be left at the margins.

We need leaders who model generosity.
We need believers who understand generosity as part of discipleship.
And we need to build a culture where what God places in our hands is intentionally stewarded for His Kingdom and the good of others.

Dr. Master Matlhaope, Secretary General of the Association of Evangelicals in Africa, was invited by Daystar University's Chancellor Dr. Florence Muindi, Council Chair Prof. George Njoroge, and Vice Chancellor Prof. Laban Ayiro to lead devotion at the university's Vice Chancellor's Breakfast with eminent clergy in Nairobi, held under the theme "Re-Engineering the Leadership DNA of the Church in Africa."

Reflecting on Acts 13:16–22 and Israel's leadership succession to David, a man after God’s own heart, Dr. Matlhaope titled his message "Leadership is of God," drawing out three truths: leadership originates from God, leadership is global, and leadership is timeless.

"Show me a leader and I'll show you a vision," he said, urging leaders to embrace stewardship not just of resources but of people; identifying and preparing the next generation of leaders. "When leaders die, leadership continues," he reminded the gathering, calling for a vision as broad and global as God's own.
