We had an enlightening visit with AFC Leopardess and AFC Leopards SC, where we engaged players on key issues shaping their careers both on and off the pitch.

We encouraged players to register for KEFWA membership, emphasizing the importance of unity, representation, and the benefits that come with being part of the Union.

Our discussions also focused on the dangers of substance abuse in sports, highlighting its impact on players’ health and careers.

Former player and KEFWA Head of Special Needs, Martin Imbalalala, delivered a powerful message, reminding players of their responsibility as role models and urging them to stay away from banned substances and remain vigilant against match-fixing.

“Together, let’s commit to integrity and always report when approached.”

We had the privilege of visiting MCF at their home ground in Matuu, Machakos County. This visit allowed us to engage with the players about crucial issues such as substance abuse (doping) and match-fixing vices that are undermining the integrity of our beloved sport. We emphasized the importance of recognizing these issues and the responsibility of reporting any suspicious activities through the Red Button link shared with them.

Additionally, we encouraged our members to prioritize their financial future by saving, no matter how small the amount, through our Mwanasporti Sacco. This initiative not only helps them manage their earnings but also provides access to loans to support their projects while they continue to excel in their athletic careers.

We had a great session with Zetech Sparks FC at their home training ground in Juja, where we engaged the players on two critical issues affecting the game today.

We sensitized the team on the dangers of substance abuse and doping, highlighting the serious health risks involved as well as the potential consequences, including suspension from football. Protecting your career starts with making informed and responsible choices.

We also addressed the growing concern of match-fixing, a vice that continues to threaten the integrity of our game. Players were encouraged to stay vigilant, recognize suspicious approaches, and take action by reporting through the Red Button platform shared during the session.

At KEFWA, we remain committed to safeguarding players and preserving the integrity of football.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of former Nzoia Sugar, Tusker, Bidco United, and Kakamega Homeboyz defender, Gabriel Wandera.

Gabriel’s contribution to the game and his dedication on the pitch will always be remembered. His untimely passing following a tragic road incident is a painful loss to the football fraternity.

As KEFWA, we stand with his family, friends, teammates, and the entire football community during this difficult time. May they find strength and comfort in this moment of grief.

Rest in peace, Gabriel. You will never be forgotten.

MATCH-FIXING IS NOT A GAME — IT’S A CAREER ENDER

It often starts small…
A message, a call, a “simple request.”
But behind it is a serious threat to your career, your reputation, and the integrity of football.

At KEFWA, we urge all players:

Say NO. Report immediately. Protect your future.
Through the Red Button App by FIFPRO, you can safely and anonymously report any suspicious approach.

The Red Button allows you to:
• Report match-fixing attempts confidentially
• Stay protected — no trace is left on your device
• Take action without fear

Remember:

Failing to report can put your career at risk — but reporting protects you and the game.
Football belongs to the players. Let’s keep it clean, fair, and honest. ⚽

Contact KEFWA for access to the Red Button.

We Continue with our outreach programme with a visit to Bandari Queens Football Club, where we held an interactive session with the players focused on empowerment, welfare, and integrity in the game.

During the engagement, we spoke about the importance of the players’ union and how being part of the Union strengthens players’ voices, protects their rights, and supports their professional growth both on and off the field.

The session also introduced players to Sacco, where we encouraged them to develop a strong saving culture and begin planning for financial stability beyond their playing careers. Players were taken through the benefits of Sacco membership and how disciplined saving can help build long-term security.

In addition, we discussed sports integrity and anti-doping, reminding players about the importance of maintaining clean careers and staying away from banned substances that could negatively impact their health and professional future.

KEFWA remains committed to engaging players across the country, ensuring they are informed, protected, and empowered throughout their football journey.
