From Kenya Rugby Union- 2024/2025 Fixtures Updates and kick off Dates

Following a productive series of meetings with the various stakeholders involved in Kenya Rugby Union competitions, we would like to share the key outcomes that will take effect immediately or by the specified dates.
Enterprise & Mwamba Cup Draws

In line with our discussions and the consensus to conduct the draws early to assist clubs in their season planning and budgeting, we are pleased to announce that the Enterprise and Mwamba Cup draws will take place on Friday, 4th October 2024, at 2 PM in the KRU Boardroom.

We kindly request all clubs to send their representatives and confirm attendance by notifying the competitions desk. Your participation is crucial to ensure a smooth and successful draw.

For clarification, as agreed in our meetings, the teams for the respective draws will be as follows:
a) Enterprise Cup Teams:
Top 12 Teams from the 2024-25 Kenya Cup League
Bottom 2 Teams from the 2023-24 Kenya Cup League
Losing Semi-Finalists from the 2023-24 Championship League

b) Mwamba Cup Teams:
Teams ranked 5-12 from the 2024-25 Championship League
Bottom 2 Teams from the 2023-24 Championship League
Losing Semi-Finalists from the 2023-24 Nationwide League
Losing Quarter-Finalists from the 2023-24 Nationwide League

2. ​​2024-25 Season Calendar
Please find attached the updated calendar of activities as of today. This includes all key dates and events, as promised.

3. 2024-25 Kick-Off Dates
The official kick-off date for the upcoming season has been confirmed as 16th November 2024. There was a general agreement to reconsider the resumption date after the holiday break, with the suggestion to move it to 18th January 2025 instead of 11th January 2025. The Leagues and Fixtures Committee will review this proposal and provide guidance. However, for now, 16th November 2024 remains the confirmed start date.

4.Player Registration and Portal Updates
The player registration portal is now open for two weeks, from Monday 30th September 2024, until 12th October 2024. During this period, teams are advised to update their player folders. Please ensure that only officially registered players are added to your portal. However, recent transfers and any unregistered players who officially belong to your club may also be updated.

5. Official League Fixtures
The majority of the league fixtures have been finalized, with some adjustments expected for the Kenya Cup Women fixtures. Once the Nationwide fixtures are confirmed, we will release the final draft of the fixtures by 12th October 2024 for formal adoption and confirmation.
