It's Menstrual Hygiene Day on campus and volunteers visited campus. They taught the Daraja girls about menstrual hygiene and how to make reusable pads. We think it is important to raise awareness about period poverty. Period poverty refers to “inadequate access to menstrual hygiene tools and education”, and too many girls suffer the consequences from it. In Kenya, 1 million girls miss school each month because they cannot afford sanitary pads. When girls miss school, they begin to fall behind in their education or drop out of school entirely.
