Another big 📢📢📢 for KAMPUCHEA BALOPP in 2023 is our plan to send our Khmer educators to France next September. The aim is to immerse them in a new culture, meet partner NGOs and share their experiences with professional and amateur rugby schools.

Over the next few days, we'll be introducing you to our educators, who will be taking off for France in September.🏉🏉
Today, it's Ra's turn to take part in our little interview.

Hello Ra, can you introduce yourself?

- Hello everyone, my name is Ra and I'm from Kandal province in Cambodia. I've been working for Kampuchea Balopp for over 10 years, and my job at our NGO is Deputy Sports Program Manager.

Where are you from? How did you learn to play rugby?

- I left my hometown at the age of 8. I moved to Phnom Penh and joined the ASPECA center (Children of Asia now) to continue my education. I learned to play rugby while I was at ASPECA. I started playing when I was 11.

How did you start working for Kampuchea Balopp?

- Kampuchea Balopp and my NGO formed a partnership when I was young. I also played rugby under the KB's programs. KB's Sports Educators would train my team and me in rugby once or twice a week. I loved what KB brought to me and my school. After finishing high school, KB gave me the opportunity to work with them. An offer I couldn't refuse (laughs).

What impact do you think KB has on the children you train?

- Our aim is to use sport as a tool for education and social inclusion for disadvantaged children in Cambodia. As well as enabling the youngsters to escape from their difficult daily lives, the aim is to pass on essential human qualities to them in order to contribute to their development.

What do you expect from your trip to France?

- What I expect most from my trip to France is to observe the organisation of professional and amateur rugby clubs. I also hope to learn more from rugby educators so that I can develop the sport more effectively in my country.

What is your best memory as a Kampuchea Balopp educator?

- My best memory is when we brought a group of under-12s from the KB team to compete in Singapore with the Tanglin Rugby Club. We lost in the final by the very narrow score of 1-0. At the end, we were very excited to go to the Singapore stadium to watch a Super Rugby match for the first time.

SUNDAY MORNING - ALL GIRLS RUGBY with the VALKYRIES from SG! - DAY 2
A full on morning of fun, action and competition for 170+ girls under different age groups (U12 U14 U16) gathering for the occasion of the Tanglin Rugby Club, “The Valkyrie” girls rugby & parents delegation visit. Our Cambodian teams were made up of girls from PSE - Pour un Sourire d'Enfant - Cambodia Sunrise Cambodia Enfants d'Asie Cambodge អង្គការមូលនិធិកុមារកម្ពុជា - CCF and from our Kampong Cham province KB program (a group traveled especially for the occasion to PP). Thanks again to all the young volunteers from Lycée Français René Descartes Phnom Penh and PNC - Passerelles numériques Cambodia, as well to all amazing Valkyrie parents who contributed to this fantastic social inclusion day through sport!

SAT MORNING SESSION WITH THE VALKYRIES from SINGAPORE! - DAY 1
Great way to start a fun week-end with our SG friends and supporters from the Tanglin Rugby Club, “The Valkyrie” girls rugby delegation & parents. They actively participated in a session of sports activities at the PSE - Pour un Sourire d'Enfant - Cambodia / Kampuchea Balopp field.
The group shared their skills and offered some Tshirts and recycled water bottles to the children! Smiles, fun, sharing, and memories built forever. THANK YOU TO ALL!
