Many times, we want to be accepted by people who we think possess value,so we believe we need to develop certain qualities or characteristics for people to accept us (it's a normal human trait). This can cause anxiety or disharmony your own life because you will realize that those qualities or characteristics are not who you really are,and that causes detachment from self.
Person centered therapy helps you challenge the conditions that taught you you're only valued when you have certain qualities or characteristics or meet certain expectations.
