We believe that interaction with the world and each other through the arts can be transformative, so our mission is to be an Arts Organization that provides Generative Educational and Vocational Dance Training.

We invite you to join us at the premiere of ‚a practice for living together’, a documentary film by Marisa Zanotti and the learning community of MA Dance: Participation, Communities, Activism.

MA Dance: Participation, Communities, Activism is a global community of artists and researchers working at the intersection of community dance and arts activism.

Shot over two weeks of a residency as part of the MA Dance: Participation, Communities, Activism, this documentary film folds time and space in a choreographic counter-map of emotional, physical and geographical territories.

🌱 When: Friday November 29th 4.15pm - 5pm

🌱 Where: Studio Wayne McGregor, Here East, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London, E15 2GW

🌱Tickets can be booked here:
https://theplace.org.uk/events/fields

The film will be screened as part of FIELDS, a presentation of work from the four MA programmes at London Contemporary Dance School @theplacelondon

We join dance artists from 12 countries as they navigate dance studios, a warren of corridors, a story garden, public spaces of London, their own cities and online spaces in dance workshops, actions and interviews. We will meet an expanding community of staff, guests and students exchanging learning. Artists and expert facilitators from across the world are researching the question ‚what kind of dance practice in and of the body can meet the challenges and urgencies of our times?’

Beginning in Chile and ending in Croydon we will see dynamic exchanges, diverse bodies and dances, acts of resistance, resilience and care through video, stills, text, image, maps, and drawings.

Applications to study MA Dance: Participation, Communities, Activism at London Contemporary Dance School, starting September 2025 are now open!

Since its inception in 2012, EBTC has been passionate about helping those who wouldn't normally make it to a ballet studio experience the transformative power of movement and dance through our community dance programs. This January, we joined AusCam Freedom Project and Terre des Hommes to help their Change Agents create a dance piece to raise awareness about online safety.

14 young women - already leaders in their schools and communities - came together over the course of the month of January to participate in workshops where they explored their voice and vision and learned how to translate that to movement.

The final event on Jan 28 at MC Park was a huge success as we saw families touched by the performance and motivated to discuss online safety with their children. We saw young girls hungry to know more about how to protect themselves and others online. This was the participant's goal in participating in this project and we are so proud to have helped them bring their vision to life.

In Cambodia, the Safety for Children and their Rights Online or SCROL project ensures that all children (regardless of gender, class, religion, ethnicity, and abilities) are protected from online child sexual exploitation in a safe family and community environment through the proactive and collaborative engagement of policymakers, child protection systems, judiciary, law enforcement agencies, private sectors, and children themselves.

As part of this project in Cambodia, TdH NL is running a campaign titled ‘Safe Online World for Girls’ (SOWG) in partnership with AusCam Freedom Project which focuses on spreading awareness and nurturing dialogue on social media safety among girl children, parents and community members.

We are honored to be a part of this campaign by creating a dance performance piece for the Call to Action event on Jan 28 at MC Park.

Today we held our first Quarantine Ballet Class for those in the covid treatment facility at Olympic Stadium. It was great to be able to move together and have an activity to do. Artistic Director Amanda Miller zoomed in to lead the class.

Thank you for a memorable 2021! 12/01/2022

2021 brought with it many challenges but we were continually inspired by our dancers who faced it all determination and grace. We are grateful to them and to all of you both near and far who have supported the school this past year.

Check out our end of year newsletter put together by EBTC Artistic Director Amanda Miller.
