Newstart FC 6-3 Pavilion Hotel

After suffering their first defeat ever last week is controversial circumstances Newstart FC were handed the tough task of getting back to winning ways against Pavilion Hotel, one of Siem Reaps strongest teams. Newstart welcomed back some familiar faces but have also added a couple new players to the mix. With the return of Harris and Gardner imminent, Newstart have a bright future ahead.

From kick off Newstart signaled their intent, Pomroy hit a shot from 40yards and bought a great save out of the opposing goalkeeper. The early exchanges were neat and tidy, new signing Olly, was battling away in the centre of the park and Chan was looking dangerous down the right.
It was down the right hand side that the first goal came. A neat touch from Chan found Pomroy, who delivered the cross for Joey to finish. A couple more chances went begging and now the game was being played in the Pavilion half.
On 38minutes Chan cut in from the right hand side and gaps appeared in front of him, he rifled a shot into the far corner. Pavilion were shocked, and from kick off they tried to bring the ball forward, a tackle from Olly fell to Pomroy who carried the ball and smashed into the net, 3-0. Pavilion pulled one back just before the break to give themselves some hope but Newstart quickly made it 4-1 with a cross turned shot was turned in by the Pavilion goalkeeper.

The second half Pavilion came out strong and Newstart were forced into some heavy defending. They pulled one back and then rattled the bar twice. Newstart were weathering the storm. At 4-2 the next goal was crucial. Pomroy wasted a couple of free kicks and new signing Olly who was having a blinder was taken off injured. However with just fifteen minutes left Chan once again broke through and rifled a shot home, 5-2 and this should be game over. Two minutes later it was 5-3 as a mix up in the Newstart defence. The game was settled with ten minutes left when Pomroy beat the offside trap and slotted home off both posts. A minute later Pomroy rattled the bar as he looked to complete another hat trick but instead pulled up with a hamstring injury.

A deserved, hard fought victory for Newtsart, their best of the season so far.

Newstart FC 5-5 Somadevi FC
Newstart winning run came to an end in the cruelest of circumstances as a last minute equalizer denied them the win.
A thrilling game and on reflection a draw was probably the fairest result but with backs against the wall Newstart looked to have done enough but a free kick late on was turned in at the far post.
The game was less than one minute old when captain Pomroy won a tackle in midfield and pushed forward and drove home with a left footed strike. After a quick equalizer Roun restored the Newstart lead with a stunning left footed strike after some neat foot work. Somadevi hit back again when Namar failed to clear a back pass. Pomroy scored a thunderbolt of a shot straight after but just on half time that equalizer came again.
The second kicked off a frantic pace and for the first time Somadevi took the lead. Pomroy, in the form of his life, completed another hat trick with a front post header from Roun's corner. That is now ten goals in three games. Bekkevold then put Newstart ahead when he broke through the defence and rounded the goalkeeper and bundled the ball home. Then that killer blow in the last minute confirmed the draw.
It was a great game and Newstart had to show a new side of themselves, it was a fight and a battle and albeit a young squad they are more than up for the challenge.

Newstart FC continued there great start to the season with a 9-0 victory over Jungle Junction. Captain Charlie Pomroy grabbed five goals, the pick of them an audacious shot from inside his own half.
Newstart started the game brightly and were ahead within two minutes when Roun cut in from the left wing and found Pomroy at the back post for an easy tap in. Harris then made it two goals in two games and Joey converted a corner to make it 3-0. Newstart were in complete control of the game, debutants Chan and Rafin both look assured and although rarely tested the Newstart defense, marshaled by Gardner looked comfortable. Then the moment of magic as a corner was cleared he ball fell to Pomroy who turned and hit a shot from inside his own half.
The second half was less than three minutes old when Pomroy completed his hat trick. Chance after chance went begging, Pomroy and Roun began to control he tempo of he game, Chan and Joey linking up well, all the cogs in the machine were working together. Roun grabbed his first of the season and Joey added another to make it 7-0. Then another bit of magic from Pomroy, picking the ball up in his own six yard area moved through the entire jungle junction team and slotted home. The rout was complete when Pomroy rounded the GK after latching onto a pass from Roun.
Two wins from two and life in the Newstart camp is looking pretty peachy right now.

Newstart FC second game of the season is tonight 'Galaxy Goal Academy'.

Norwegian winger Simen Julner is away on international duty in Thailand so will miss the next two games.
Cambodian midfielders Eath & Namar are also missing due to work commitments. Defender DK is also on study leave an misses out.
Forward Pomroy is an injury doubt with a groin problem. He is set to miss training the next few days in order to be fit.
Gardner & Roun both picked up knocks but have shaken them off and will be fit to play.
Chan & Dov are set to make his debut for the club after missing Saturdays game.

A bumper crowd, turned out at Galaxy Sport to see Newstart FC begin their life as a professional football club here in Siem Reap, and the crowd were treated to a seven goal thriller.

The early exchanges were scrappy and Newstart struggled to gain any kind of rhythm in the game. Striker Pomroy threatened a couple of times from long range but for all their hard work Newstart hadn’t tested the Galaxy goalkeeper in the first fifteen minutes. It was only fitting that Galaxy would take the lead moments later when a long ball over the top was latched onto and slotted home coolly.
The goal sparked Newstart into life, and they started t dominate the game. Chance after chance went begging until on the half hour mark when club player/chairman Joey Bekkevold headed the first goal of the Newstart history. It was no more than they deserved and a few moments later club captain Pomroy had made it 2-1 latching onto a pass from Roun and finishing into the far corner.

Two glaring errors right on half time meant for all the hard work Newstart were 3-2 down at half time in a game they were totally dominating. The dominance continued into the second half and most of the opening exchanges inside the Galaxy half paid off. Ten minutes in Pomroy was fouled in the box and dusted himself off to slot home the penalty for his second of the game. Chances continued to go begging, and it looked like a draw was on the cards. That is until centre half Harris came out of nowhere on a long throw and headed a bullet into the corner to give Newstart a deserved lead. Pomroy then hit the woodwork twice, Joey missed a guilt edged chance at the back post and Roun was guilty of wanting too many touches in the box. Newstart held off a late comeback for their first ever win.
