The success of our young athletes at the CARIFTA Games continues to open doors, with top performers attracting significant interest from leading high schools across Jamaica.

Now, Kymarni Newton and Najeeb Kelly are set to take their talents to St. Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) in Jamaica on track and field scholarships.

This marks a historic first for the Federation, as Kymarni and Najeeb become the first track and field athletes from St. Kitts and Nevis to earn scholarships to attend high school in Jamaica.

They join the legacy of outstanding athletes such as Tiandra Ponteen, Virgil Hodge and Melville Rogers, who took their talents to the United States and excelled within the American high school system.

What makes this achievement even more special is the journey these two have shared. From Charlestown Primary School, to Charlestown Secondary School, and now together to STETHS, they have been by each other’s side every step of the way.

Today, we celebrate not only their talent, but their hard work, dedication and the doors they are opening for the next generation of athletes from St. Kitts and Nevis.

As we bring the 2025/2026 season to a close and stand on the heels of the 2026/2027 season, let’s take a moment to look back at some of the memorable moments and scenes from an incredible year.

A season filled with hard work, dedication, challenges, achievements, and memories that will last a lifetime. As we turn the page and look ahead to what’s next, we celebrate the journey and everyone who played a part in making it special.

DeCheynelle Thomas is off to the University of Arkansas to further her athletic and academic career.

The University of Arkansas is a powerhouse track and field program and has just got even stronger with the addition of Ms. Thomas.

DeCheynelle enjoyed her fastest year in track and field this season running personal bests in both the 200m and 400m.

She will be missed in the local scene but we know bigger and brighter times are ahead.

We congratulate DeCheynelle and wish her the very best.

Multi-medalist, Akanye left our shores to Coppin State University today.

Akanye Samuel Francis who was widely recruited has decided to take his talents to Coppin State University.

Akanye is the only athlete to medal in the hurdle event at the Carifta Games, winning on 3 different ocassions and holds the 400m hurdles national junior record.

We wish Akanye all the very best on his new journey.

Eagle soaring high 🦅

Multiple times medalist, the CEMS Eagle, Uzariel Hodge has spread her wings and will be joining Monroe University this summer.

Coming off a successful stint in high school, we want to wish Ms. Hodge the very best.

Congratulations to our top junior sprint hurdler who jetted off to college today.

Tejuan Webbe was awarded a scholarship to attend Garden City College in Kansas where he will further his studies and track and field career.

The 2026 season was a good one for the young hurdler where he broke the national junior record in the 110m hurdles in 1️⃣3️⃣.9️⃣0️⃣ seconds at the Carifta Games and copped the bronze medal at the NACAC U18/ U23 Championships in Mexico a few weeks ago.

We wish Tejuan all the very best on his new journey.

200m Journey

For something great to begin, there must be an end and so as DeCheynelle closed out her season today in the 200m. We applaud her season where she dipped under 55 seconds for the first time in the 400m and matched it by running under 24 seconds in the 200m.

We can't wait to see what's in store for young Thomas.
