It was a glorious final day for the SKN National Team at the OECS Championships in St Lucia, the host nation has to be commended for putting on a classy event, fun but very competitive.
It was a pleasure to hear our athletes names and our country announced over the speaker system, knowing that we were able to mix it up with the bigger more experienced teams.
The young athletes were a sight to see indeed, launching themselves off the swim start platform and giving their absolute best, Skyla, Austin and Justin represented their country admirably, following the lead of their more experienced counterpart Jennifer Harding-Marlin.
Jennifer herself seemed to be everywhere and in everything!! Racking up team points and garnering a nice collection of podium medals along the way, a total of 6, one more than her first OECS tournament.
Out of the 6 counties participating we were able to get 5th place, which we will happily take as a result to be immensely proud of.

The recently formed SKN National Youth Swimming Squad, is being represented at the 30th annual OECS championships, by 3 of their members. Swimmers Skyla Connor, Justin and Austin Williams formed the main part of the contingent that travelled to St Lucia to create history by racing this weekend.
Led by the SKN head coach Yashwant Daryanani, with his local assistant coaches James Weekes and Nedd Lestrade, the team will be joined by Jennifer Harding-Marlin and mothe/coach Lynn to compete in the 400, 200, 100 and 50m races.
This is the culmination of just four months of dedicated hard work and discipline, to which the whole squad of 17 swimmers have responded to in stellar fashion, enabling the country of St Kitts & Nevis to finally announce itself to the world of competitive swimming.
Our swimmers will be competing against some of the best youngsters in the region, from St Vincent & The Grenadines, Antigua & Barbuda, Grenada, St Martin, and host Nation St Lucia.
