The 2015 in South was officially declared open on July 3, 2015 with a festival of lights inside the Gwangju Mudeung Stadium. The Jamaican delegation was led by team captain Mr. Chad Wright (flag-bearer) and Head of Delegation Mr. Anthony Davis. The ceremony had an estimated 44,000 attendees in addition to the approximately 10,000 student-athletes who will be participating in the games.

BEIJING – FISU Secretary-General/CEO Eric Saintrond and FISU Director of Media & Communications Dejan Susovic are currently attending the 56th ABU Sports Group Conference. At this meeting of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union, hosted by CCTV China, from 7 to 9 May, 2015, FISU and ABU officially signed a TV rights Contract for the 2015-2017 FISU Events. The contract covers all Asian territories and Pacific.The contract was signed by FISU SG/CEO Eric Saintrond and Dr. Javad Mottaghi, ABU Secretary-General who knows the Universiade, FISU’s major event, very well as he was a former participant at the 11th Summer Universiade in Bucharest in 1981.
“We have clearly understood the values that FISU represents and we will do everything in our power to promote the FISU Events amongst our members”, the ABU Secretary-General commented. “You have found a new friend in ABU and we are confident that this collaboration will be fruitful for both partners.”
The Contract Signing Ceremony was guided by Mr. Jiang Heping, Chairperson of the ABU Sports Group, and CCTV Sports Controller.

Mr. Susovic was also a speaker in one of the panel discussions of the Conference: ‘Public Service Broadcasting: Time for Change’.
