도쿄 다마가와 공방에서 프레임을 만드는 Vlad가 티타늄에 대해 한 말입니다. 그리고 이 말은 엘리시온을 가장 정확하게 설명합니다.

이퀼리브리엄의 철학은 단 하나입니다. 자전거가 라이더의 주의를 요구하지 않는 것. 자연스럽게 작동하고, 조용히 사라지는 것.

Equilibrium이라는 이름이 뜻하는 균형은 지오메트리에만 있는 것이 아니라, 라이딩의 전체 경험에 있습니다.

🖤 Equilibrium Elysion

이퀼리브리엄의 엘리시온은 주문 후 10개월에서 12개월이 지나야 완성됩니다. 그리고 동일한 엘리시온은 존재하지 않습니다.

라이더의 피팅 데이터와 요청 사항을 바탕으로 프레임마다 설계가 달라지기 때문입니다.

이번 엘리시온의 마감은 샌드블라스트와 미러 폴리싱의 대비로 구성되어 있습니다. 메인 프레임은 샌드블라스트 처리로 빛을 흡수하는 무광 질감을 가지며, 시트스테이와 체인스테이, 그리고 로고는 미러 폴리싱으로 마감되어 있습니다.

같은 티타늄이지만, 마감에 따라 전혀 다른 질감을 만들어냅니다.

튜빙은 이탈리아 Columbus의 Hyperion 티타늄 튜빙을 베이스로 하되, 이퀼리브리엄이 자체 스펙으로 커스텀 제작한 것을 사용합니다. Columbus Hyperion은 버티드 가공이 없는 일반 티타늄 튜브 대비 인장강도(UTS)가 22% 향상된 고성능 튜빙입니다.

대부분의 빌더들은 Columbus가 제공하는 표준 규격 중에서 선택해 사용하지만, 이퀼리브리엄은 이를 넘어서 자체 스펙으로 커스텀 오더를 넣습니다.
최소 발주 수량과 개발 비용을 감수하면서까지 이 선택을 하는 빌더는 드뭅니다. 프레임의 성격을 튜빙 단계에서부터 직접 결정한다는 의미입니다.

카본 시트마스트는 BJŌRN | bicycle saddles & components 과의 협업으로 개발된 전용 제품입니다. 이퀼리브리엄의
티타늄 프레임 기하와 맞게 설계되었으며, 헤드셋 캡 역시 폴리싱 마감으로 전체적인 디테일의 일관성을 유지합니다.

𝑭𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝑬𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆.

캐논데일이 이번 세대 슈퍼식스에 붙인 슬로건입니다.

에어로 바이크가 시장을 장악하고 있는 지금, 많은 브랜드들이 플래그십을 순수한 에어로 머신으로 진화시키는 방향을 선택했습니다. 캐논데일의 선택은 달랐습니다. 혁신보다 완성. 5세대 슈퍼식스는 이미 검증된 올라운더를 더 정밀하게 다듬는 데 집중했습니다.

프레임은 전체를 하나의 시스템으로 재작업했습니다. 더 슬림해진 탑 튜브, 전면 면적을 줄인 헤드 튜브, 기류 속에서 낮아진 포크. 극적인 변화가 아니라 모든 튜브 프로파일을 조금씩 더 가볍고, 조금씩 더 공기역학적으로 다듬은 결과입니다.

Introducing the Cannondale SuperSix EVO Gen 5.

That‘s Cannondale’s tagline for this generation of the SuperSix.

At a time when aero bikes dominate the market and brands are pushing their flagships toward pure aero platforms, Cannondale took a different path. The fifth-generation SuperSix stays true to its all-round identity, refined rather than rethought.

The frame has been reworked as a complete system. A slimmer top tube, a reduced frontal area at the head tube, a fork sitting lower in the airflow. No dramatic overhaul — just every tube profile made a little lighter, a little more aerodynamically efficient than before.

Climbs, flats, descents. A bike that isn‘t built to dominate one terrain at the expense of another, but to be consistently fast across all of them. When you think about where most riding actually happens — somewhere in between — ”𝑭𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝑬𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆.“ turns out to be a pretty honest tagline.

(ENG below) Factor ONE 프레임셋이 랩에 입고되었습니다.
UCI 규정을 준수하는 로드 바이크 중 가장 빠른 바이크, 바로 Factor ONE을 두고 하는 말입니다.

그 근거는 포크에서 시작됩니다. UCI가 로드 바이크 설계 규정을 완화하자, Factor는 오랫동안 준비해온 와이드 포크를 꺼내들었습니다. 전륜 타이어 주변의 기류를 제어하고, 포크 하단의 덕트 구조가 그 흐름을 프레임 전체로 이어받습니다. 공기를 가르는 것이 아니라, 공기가 어디로 흘러가는지를 결정하는 설계입니다.

공기역학이 전부가 아니었습니다. Factor는 현대 레이서들이 이미 취하고 있는 포지션, 더 앞으로 이동한 안장, 짧아진 크랭크, 좁아진 바를 프레임 설계 안으로 끌어들였습니다. 포지션을 억지로 맞추는 것이 아니라, 프레임이 그 포지션을 자연스럽게 받아내도록 만든 것입니다.

공개 데뷔는 예고 없이 이루어졌습니다. 프로토타입 상태로 출전한 투르 드 프랑스 직전 최대 준비 레이스, 크리테리움 뒤 도피네(Critérium du Dauphiné)에서 스테이지 우승. Factor의 표현을 빌리자면, 이는 데뷔전이 아니라 선언이었습니다.

The Factor ONE frameset has arrived at

The fastest UCI-legal road bike ever made. That‘s Factor’s claim for the ONE.

It starts with the fork. When the UCI relaxed its road bike design regulations, Factor was ready. The wide-stance fork manages airflow around the front tyre, and the ducted structure beneath channels that flow across the entire bike. It‘s not about cutting through the air — it’s about deciding where the air goes next. Independent wind tunnel testing at Guelph and SASI validated what Factor‘s CFD work had been showing all along.

But aerodynamics was only half the mission. Factor looked at the positions modern racers are already adopting — saddles pushed further forward, shorter cranks, narrower bars — and built a frame that accommodates them naturally. Not a workaround. A starting point.

The debut was unannounced. In prototype form, the ONE won a stage at the Critérium du Dauphiné, the most prominent warm-up race before the Tour de France. Factor called it not a debut, but a declaration.

UL60은 그 허브 기술을 기반으로 만들어진 로드 휠셋입니다. 림 깊이 60mm, 전체 중량 1,135g부터 시작하며, 카본 스포크를 허브에 직접 스레드 방식으로 체결하는 구조로 스포크 와인드업 없이 강성과 경량을 동시에 확보합니다. 45포인트 인게이지먼트 래칫 시스템은 즉각적인 파워 전달을 가능하게 합니다.

A completed build — Cervélo S5 paired with the NonPlus UL60 wheelset — has rolled out of LAB306.

NonPlus is a brand rooted in Baden-Württemberg, Germany — a region with a long history in precision engineering. Working from that foundation, they developed a proprietary hub mechanism that has quietly earned a following among lightweight builders and elite athletes alike. At the 2024 Paris Olympics, both Pauline Ferrand-Prévot and Tom Pidcock took gold in MTB XC on wheelsets built around NonPlus hubs.

The UL60 brings that same hub technology to the road. With a 60mm rim depth and a system weight starting from 1,135g, the wheelset uses carbon spokes threaded directly into the hub — eliminating spoke wind-up while delivering both stiffness and low weight. The 45-point engagement ratchet system ensures immediate power transfer with every pedal stroke.

The S5’s aero profile and the depth of the UL60 make for a pairing that works just as well visually as it does on the road.

티타늄 소재는 빌더가 얼마나 공을 들이느냐에 따라 완성도가 달라집니다. 그리고 이번 프레임은, 그 차이를 아주 선명하게 보여주는 결과물이었습니다.

보통의 프레임 빌더는 한번 완성된 형태를 쉽게 바꾸지 않습니다. 익숙한 설계를 반복할수록 제작 과정은 안정되고, 고객의 주문도 수월하게 받을 수 있으니까요. 하지만 의 프레임은 하나당 10-12개월의 리드타임이 소요됩니다. 매 프레임마다 그 시점에서 가장 나은 기술과 설계를 고민하고 적용하기 때문입니다. 그것이 이퀼리브리엄이 다른 빌더와 구별되는 지점이기도 합니다.

이번 Brutalist Adventure도 그 연장선에 있습니다. 저희가 요청한 형태가 아니었습니다. 이퀼리브리엄 측에서 먼저 제안해온 방향이었습니다. 그래블 타이어의 트렌드가 점점 더 굵어지고 있는 흐름을 읽었고, 기존의 브루탈리스트보다 이 형태가 더 낫다는 판단이 있었습니다. 빌더 스스로가 더 나은 결과물을 향해 먼저 움직인 것입니다.

그 결과가 우리 손에 도착했을 때, 저희는 미캐닉으로서 좀처럼 느끼기 힘든 희열을 경험했습니다. 모든 파츠가 단 하나의 오차 없이 제자리를 찾아가는 순간, 빌더가 혼을 담은 프레임은, 결국 그것을 다루는 사람에게도 고스란히 전해집니다.

Most framebuilders don’t reinvent what’s already working. Repeating a proven design keeps the process efficient and the order books manageable. But every Equilibrium frame carries a 10 to 12 month lead time — because each one is approached as a fresh problem, with the best available thinking and techniques applied at that moment in time.

This Brutalist Adventure is no exception. It was Equilibrium’s initiative — driven by where gravel is heading, and a belief that this form of the Brutalist was simply better than what came before.

When the frame arrived, we experienced something rare from a mechanic’s perspective. Every part found its place without a single point of resistance. A frame built with that kind of intention has a way of making itself known — not just to the eye, but to the hands.
