Thank you all for another sold out program over the weekend. Never knew Myofascia Trigger Point Release would turn out to be such desired skill set for fitness professionals, coaches and teachers.

See you on the next one in February

This technique is something special on a personal note. Myofascial release was one of the first tools I ever used to keep athletes healthy, moving well and staying injury free during my coaching career spanning across two decades.

Now, getting to teach it to other fitness professionals is the real reward. I get to see them take this knowledge and help a wide range of people feel better, move better, and improve their daily lives; making a difference for everyone.

Given how well it's been received, this has easily been our most popular course this year and the plan is to definitely run it again with similar success next year.

But first, I'm wrapping up another sold out program this weekend to close out the year on a high note.

See you on the floor this weekend!

"Team Kimchi" wrapped up another fantastic session in Incheon over the week.

Since 2017, I have been proud to be part of the amazing ODA Korea Triathlon - World Triathlon Level 2 Coaching Program. This journey has been truly special as it marks my 8th year running, with just one session missed in 2020 due to COVID. It has been a ride full of growth, challenges, and unforgettable memories.

As the only OG facilitator left from the very beginning, Iโ€™ve had the privilege of working alongside a dedicated new team of facilitators and coaches. I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity and everyone who made this journey possible.

Looking forward to what lies ahead and many more opportunities to come.

As I took a break from coaching and as a conclusion to the first quarter of 2025, I had the opportunity to attend two back-to-back F&B Expos in Manila and Singapore. These events highlighted the industry's remarkable resilience and innovation amidst the current global economic challenges.

Engaging with industry leaders and establishing new partnerships were truly rewarding experiences. It's clear that the timeless appeal of quality food and exceptional service continues to draw in customers worldwide.

I'm looking forward to witnessing the industry's evolution as it harmonizes tradition with technology. A sincere thank you to everyone who made these events so memorable. Excited for what the future holds!

Hereโ€™s my standout moment this year being recognized for my coaching contributions at the 2023 SEA Games.

I am extremely honoured and grateful to have a fitting way to close out 22 years of my competitive triathlon coaching career with Singaporean athletes.

I took a step back this year to consolidate and made the tough but necessary decision to step away from the world of competitive coaching. After more than two decades, I came to realize it was time to let go of what no longer aligned with my principles and goals and make space for new, exciting opportunities.

The biggest lesson Iโ€™ve learned? Sometimes, the hardest but most valuable thing you can do is to move on. The experiences and skills Iโ€™ve gained from sport arenโ€™t being left behind. I will just be implementing them in a different context with a new direction.

Going forward, Iโ€™ll continue to focus on coaching education within the fitness industry. I have also placed a particularly strong focus on working with special population groups and independent athletes who want to build a strong foundation in strength and conditioning. It feels like a natural progression - focused, fulfilling, and aligned with what I do best.

Iโ€™ve also ventured into something completely new by starting a humble food business, and itโ€™s something I hope will blossom in the coming year.

2024 has been a year of exit and change.

Wishing everyone a fulfilling and meaningful year ahead. Letโ€™s keep moving forward, embracing change, and building on the experiences that shape us.

Happy New Year!

It's been rewarding to connect with Junior triathlete Dheeraj Prakash this season. We've focused on getting back to the basics, addressing the gaps in each individual discipline.

Dheeraj recently completed a four-day track campaign at the MSSD Pasir Gudang Championships, earning a Gold in the 1500m and Silver medals in both the 800m and 3000m U18 Boys events.

After a decade away from hands-on development work in triathlon, itโ€™s gratifying to revisit this journey with another dedicated junior.

Congratulations, Dheeraj! Looking forward to more success ahead.

We have recently completed the training of a new cohort of NFPT Personal Trainer candidates, who have demonstrated exceptional dedication in mastering our profession's art and science. Throughout the past weeks, these candidates engaged in a variety of learning opportunities, seamlessly integrating theoretical knowledge with practical application. Most importantly, they focused on developing real-world solutions for their future clients, utilizing exercise as a powerful and transformative modality. The diversity within this small cohortโ€”comprising sports science students, wellness coaches, and sports coachesโ€”fostered enriching exchanges and deep learning experiences for all participants.

However, it is essential to address a critical issue within our industry. Personal trainer certification education must extend beyond the narrow focus on muscle training. This common misconception leads to significant shortcomings in education, ultimately failing both the professionals and the clients they are meant to serve. While understanding anatomy, physiology, and the fundamentals of human movement is indispensable, these aspects represent only a portion of what is required. Equally important are the skills of human behavior, empathy, and effective communicationโ€”competencies that are crucial for the success of any personal trainer.

This is not intended to diminish anyone's enthusiasm, but rather to emphasize the need for more comprehensive and robust educational standards within the fitness industry. It is imperative that we demand higher quality from our training programs, ensuring that personal trainers are fully equipped to meet the diverse needs of their clients.

Nevertheless, there is a positive outlook. By advocating for better standards and more thorough education, we can elevate the entire profession, ultimately making a more profound impact on the lives of those we serve. Let us continue to strive for excellence in all aspects of personal training, ensuring that we are fully prepared to help our clients achieve their highest potential.

Congratulations to all!
