Many of the reasons adults over 40 turn to Pilates are less about aesthetics and more about wanting to keep their body functioning well long-term.
A lot of adults over 40 begin noticing things such as:
✨Back pain
✨Neck and shoulder tension
✨Hip tightness
✨Stiffness from desk work or inactivity
✨Increased soreness after activities such as running, pickleball or golf
Pilates focuses on improving mobility of the spine and joints, posture awareness and core support which can all help the body move with less strain, compression and ultimately less pain 😀

Another big exercise rehab milestone for Marcia! She has now progressed into plank work on the Reformer 💛
This is a huge step in rebuilding shoulder confidence, strength and stability. When done properly, planking exercises can be incredibly beneficial for developing scapular control, upper back support and shoulder strength. These are all essential for healthy movement and long term joint stability. By being consistent with her rehab, gradual progressing her exercises while listening to her body, Marcia has continued to get stronger every week. Recovery is never linear, but steady progress adds up!
As with so much of the private client work we do, it is the gradual improvements over weeks and months which are celebrated...the "little victories" that make all the work worth it!
