📢 Important Update for FIDE Fair Play Title Applications 📢

Starting today, 1st October 2026, FIDE is changing how you claim Fair Play Expert (FPE) and Fair Play Officer (FPO) titles.

🔄 What’s changing?

Previously, all title norms were submitted to the Fair Play Mailbox. To ensure consistency across all official FIDE designations, all documentation has now been centralised.

📧 The New Process:

All future Title Claim Forms along with Norms must now be emailed directly to [email protected].

The FIDE Fair Play Commission is holding a three-day seminar in Samarkand from 18 to 20 September, followed by an examination on 22 September. The lecturers will be Andy Howie (FPL Chair) and Vincent Geeraets (FPL Secretary).

The sessions will take place in the mornings, and the programme has been designed to fit around the schedule of the Olympiad. For this reason, the seminar is primarily intended for arbiters and others who will already be in Samarkand during this period. We advise against arranging travel specifically for the course, as the venue is still to be finalised.

Topics to be discussed during the seminar include the fair play legal framework, statistical evidence, evidence collection, and OTB and online operations. These topics will all be covered in the exam.

Upon successfully completing the exam at the end of the seminar, participants will receive an FPE seminar norm, which is one of the requirements for the FPE title.

The lecturers will be Andy Howie (SCO) and Vincent Geeraets (NL).

September 18: 10:00 – 13:00 (Uzbek time)

September 19: 10:00 – 13:00 (Uzbek time)

September 20: 10:00 – 13:00 (Uzbek time)

September 22: 10:00 – 13:00 (Uzbek time)

From 24th to 26th July 2026, a FIDE Fair Play Seminar was organized in Famalicão, Portugal, under the auspices of the FIDE Fair Play Commission (FPL).

The Lecturer was FPL Secretary Vincent Geeraets (NED), FPL Lecturer Bojana Bejatovic, and FPL Chair Andy Howie.
The language of the Seminar was English.

Eleven (11) participants from six (6) different federations participated in the Seminar and all of them participated in the examination test, held after the end of the lectures.
