Why come to the Kazakh Altai? 6 things you should know about ski touring around Ridder:
1. Powder guarantee
Deep Siberian continental snow, long winters and plenty of powder. The season can start surprisingly early, often already in October.
2. Big mountains, few people
Wild mountains, plenty of hidden terrain and very few people around.
3. Local knowledge
I'm not visiting these mountains for a week or two. I live here, ski here and know these mountains from many years of exploring and guiding. I know where and when to look for the best snow.
4. No lifts. No crowds.
Very little mechanised infrastructure means no lift queues and no resort crowds. Just you, your skis and the mountains.
5. More than just skiing
Sometimes skiing is only part of the adventure. Remote huts, small villages, snowmobiles, horses and local mountain life are all part of the experience.
6. Beyond the usual
I want to show you the Altai as I know it — wild, quiet and far from the crowds.
No noisy resorts. No queues. No fighting for fresh snow.
Just you, your skis and the mountains.
