On 16 December 2025, project staff from MCC, together with the project coordination team from the Inspection Department and the Department of Youth Vocational Development of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Youth Union Central Office, conducted a learning visit and exchange at the Don Bosco Youth Vocational Training Center (Women Center). The purpose of the visit was to discuss directions for future collaboration. At the same time, the team presented a concept for a new project that would promote peacebuilding alongside youth vocational skills training, in order to strengthen employable skills for disadvantaged youth in rural areas.

ງານດັ່ງກ່າວຈັດຂື້ນເພື່ອໃຫ້ອາສາສະໝັກຮຸນປະຈຸບັນໄດ້ມີໂອກາດນຳສະເໜີບົດຮຽນທີ່ຖອດຖອນໄດ້ຈາກການເຂົ້າຮ່ວມກິດຈະກຳ ແລະ ຈາກການຈັດຕັ້ງກິດຈະກຳຝືກອົບຮົມໃຫ້ຄວາມຮູ້ກ້ຽວກັບການສົ່ງການສ້າງສັນຕິພາບໃນຊຸ່ມຊົນຂອງຕົນໃນໄລຍະຜ່ານມາໃຫ້ກັບອາດີດອາສາສະໝັກ, ພະນັກງານໂຄງການ,ຄູ່ຮ່ວມງານ.

Recently, Youth Solidarity and Peace Promotion Activity Phase 3 (YSPP) organized an exchange gathering between current volunteers and alumni “Mittapab” at the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) Laos office. The event brought together 9 current volunteers, alumni volunteers, project staff, and partners—26 participants in total.
The gathering was held to give current volunteers an opportunity to present lessons learned from their participation and from organizing training activities that promote peacebuilding in their communities, and to share these experiences with alumni volunteers, project staff, and partners.
At the same time, it was a valuable chance to strengthen relationships between the two generations, encourage mutual learning, and build a network for future collaboration—so that peacebuilding efforts can continue to expand further.

A progress-report meeting was held to review the implementation of youth solidarity and peace promotion activities in five central provinces (Vientiane Capital, Xiengkhouang, Borikhamxay, Xayabouly, and Vientiane). Reporting period: April 2025 – September 2025. The meeting took place at the Lao People’s Revolutionary Youth Union Central Office meeting hall in Vientiane Capital on 18 November 2025.
The meeting was co-chaired by Ms. Pany Kindavong, Deputy Secretary of the LPRYU Central Executive Committee, and Ms. Catherine Sobrevega, Country Representative of Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) in Lao PDR, with relevant central staff, the project lead, and technical project staff in attendance.
During the meeting, participants heard a report on activities implemented over the first six months (April 2025 – September 2025). They also reviewed a draft implementation plan and budget for the 2025–2026 fiscal year. In addition, participants provided comments and lessons learned for the six-month report and shared further recommendations and directions to strengthen implementation during 2025–2026.

Participants heard a report on activity implementation during the last six months (October 2025 – March 2026), which marked the final meeting for Phase 3. The meeting also included a presentation on the concept for the new project Phase 4 (2025–2029). In addition, participants provided comments and lessons learned for the six-month report and shared further recommendations and directions for implementation in Phase 4 (2025–2029).

Progress Report Meeting on the Implementation of Youth Solidarity and Peace Promotion Activities in Six Southern Provinces (Champasak, Khammouane, Savannakhet, Salavan, Sekong, Attapeu) Reporting Period: October 2024 - March 2025
The meeting was held at the Central Youth Office of the Lao People's Revolutionary Youth Union in Vientiane Capital on March 25, 2025. It was chaired by Mr. Khamphon Insyxiengmai, Head of the Youth Research, Complaints, Proposals, and Advisory Department, and Ms. Catherine Sobrevega, Representative of the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) in Laos, along with staff from the Central Youth Office, project leaders, and technical staff.
During the meeting, participants reviewed the progress of activities implemented over the past six months (October 2024 - March 2025). They also discussed and proposed plans and budgets for the 2025-2026 fiscal year. Additionally, attendees provided feedback and suggestions for the final report on the activities conducted over the past six months and offered recommendations for future activities in the 2025-2026 period.

On March 5-6, 2025, the Mennonite Central Committee in Laos held its Q1 quarterly staff meeting in Vientiane Capital. During this gathering, we had the privilege of welcoming the new country representative who will be based in Laos. Additionally, we participated in training sessions led by special representatives from our headquarters, focusing on key topics related to project implementation and best practices for organizing project activities. The meeting also provided an opportunity for participants to engage in meaningful discussions, exchange ideas, and collaborate through various interactive activities.

From November 26-27, 2024, the "Youth Solidarity and Peace Promotion Activity Phase 2 (YSPP)" in collaboration with its partner, the Inspection Department of the Lao People's Revolutionary Youth Union, conducted a follow-up training activity for youth volunteers in Phonyaynoy Village, Thakheak District, Khammoun Province. The event was graced by the presence of Ms. Duangtavanh Khodtamee, Deputy of the Thakheak District People's Revolutionary Youth Office, who delivered the opening speech. The training was also attended by a team of inspectors from the Inspection Department, provincial youth staff, district youth offices, the village chief, project staff, trainers, and seminar participants, totaling 32 attendees.
The training aimed to provide youth volunteers from Khammoun Province with an opportunity to share their knowledge and experiences within their communities. Notably, volunteers such as Ms Phouphitak Norlasing who had previously undergone training, played a key role in disseminating their learning. This effort sought to raise awareness and foster understanding among the youth about the importance of solidarity and peacebuilding in their villages.
The training topics included an introduction to peace, understanding conflict and its causes, gender awareness, ethnic diversity, and the importance of respecting individual differences. These themes were designed to encourage unity and cooperation within the community.

Notably, volunteers such as Ms Mommanee Khenmee who had previously undergone training, played a key role in disseminating their learning. This effort sought to raise awareness and foster understanding among the youth about the importance of solidarity and peacebuilding in their villages.
The training topics included an introduction to peace, understanding conflict and its causes, gender awareness, ethnic diversity, and the importance of respecting individual differences. These themes were designed to encourage unity and cooperation within the community.
