Celebrating World Oceans Day at Ansr Chastanet

To celebrate World Oceans day our Marine Biologist went into the local primary school to teach the next generation of ocean guardians.

They learnt about the importance of coral reefs for both marine species and humans and the reason that coral reefs are in decline.

After a talk about the ongoing coral restoration project at Anse Chastanet and many questions the children had a chance to see our model trees up close and examine the coral fragments.

In the future the coral reefs will rely on this younger generation for protection.

Celebrating June 1 World Reef Day at
🌊🪸

To mark World Reef Day on June 1, our dedicated Reef Life and Renewal Team planted a new batch of young Elkhorn coral onto the reef directly in front of Anse Chastanet.

Carefully removed from our coral nursery and transplanted to their new home, these corals will continue to grow and strengthen one of Saint Lucia’s most important marine ecosystems. Elkhorn coral thrives in shallow waters, making it easily visible to snorkelers and divers exploring the vibrant reef just steps from our beaches.

As one of the Caribbean’s most important reef-building corals, Elkhorn provides essential habitat for marine life while helping to protect coastlines from wave action and erosion. Through our ongoing coral restoration efforts, we are helping to rebuild reef resilience and ensure that future generations can enjoy the beauty and biodiversity of Saint Lucia’s underwater world.

We invite our guests to witness these restoration efforts firsthand and learn more about the vital role healthy coral reefs play in sustaining our oceans.

Congratulations Karolin Troubetzkoy - Repost: "New York, New York. A city filled with special memories for me, not least because it is where I married my darling Nick.

Last night, it became the setting for another memorable occasion as I was inducted into the newly established Caribbean Tourism Organization’s Female Leadership Hall of Fame at the CTO Women in Tourism Leadership Awards Dinner.
To be included among the six inaugural inductees and recognized alongside such accomplished Caribbean women leaders is something I will always treasure. Congratulations to my fellow honorees: Petra Roach, Director of Sales & Marketing, Wyndham Grand Barbados; Rosa Harris, Director of Tourism, Cayman Islands; Valérie Damaseau, Commissioner of Tourism & Culture, Saint-Martin; Marsha Henderson, Minister of Tourism, St. Kitts & Nevis; and Beverly Nicholson-Doty, CEO of Figment Design. Each has made a remarkable contribution to Caribbean tourism, and I am delighted to share this distinction with them.
My sincere thanks to the Caribbean Tourism Organization, and especially to Secretary-General Dona Regis-Prosper, for this very special recognition. I am also grateful to the many colleagues, friends, mentors, and team members who have been part of my work in tourism, conservation, education, and community development over the years.

I am inspired to continue contributing to tourism, conservation, education, and community development in Saint Lucia and throughout the Caribbean. The evening was also a wonderful reminder of the strength, talent, and dedication of women across our region, and of the great opportunities that lie ahead for us to accomplish together. "

Sun anemone shrimp and squat anemone shrimp are two macro gems often found around corkscrew anemones at cleaning stations. These little specialists live among stinging tentacles for protection while helping clean parasites and dead tissue off visiting fish.

Their work keeps reef life healthy-proving that even the smallest creatures play a big role underwater

Golden stripes, synchronized moves, and that constant chatter.

Smallmouth grunts are on of the species of fish that adds beauty to the reef. 🪸

Alway schooling, always communicating, always adding life to the underwater scene.

Hidden in plain sight.

Today’s surprise on Turtle Reef? A new gray frogfish perfectly tucked among brown tube sponges - so well camouflaged that we swam past it more than once before those subtle textures gave it away.

As you may know, Frogfish are masters of disguise. Their bodies can change color and texture to match their surroundings, blending seamlessly into sponges, coral, or rock. It’s not just color - it’s skin structure, posture, even the way they “walk” along the reef using modified fins instead of swimming.

This marks one of several frogfish sightings over the last couple of months - and every find feels like striking underwater gold. We’re hoping to spot a few more before they slip back into hiding and become reef legends once again.

Keep your eyes sharp on your next dive… you never know what’s pretending to be a sponge. 🤙🏾
