The National Cadet Corps,with a proud history of 145 years paraded for the 78th Independence day parade with the Presidential Colors and Corps Colors,493 Cadets and 14 Officers.

වර්ෂ 145ක ප්‍රෞඪ ඉතිහාසයක් ආඩම්බර විය හැකි වර්තමානයක් හා පැහැදිලි අනාගතයක් හිමි ජාතික ශිෂ්‍යභට බලකාය සිය අභිමානවත් ජනාධිපති වර්ණ හා බලකා වර්ණ සමඟින් 78වන නිදහස් දින පෙළපාලිය නියෝජනය කරමින් ශිෂ්‍යභට බාලක බාලිකාවන් 493 දෙනෙක් සහ නිළධාරීන් 14 දෙනෙක් සහභාගී විය.

Independence was never just a gift; it was a journey.

Today, as the Lion Flag flutters across the island, we mark the 78th anniversary of a monumental turning point in our history. On February 4th, 1948, our nation reclaimed its freedom, ending over 130 years of British colonial rule and transitioning from the Crown Colony of Ceylon to a sovereign, independent country.

As we celebrate our 78th Independence Day, we honor the resilience and unity of the leaders and citizens who led the struggle for self-determination. Their vision restored our national dignity and gave us the right to shape our own destiny.

May this milestone inspire a future of unity, peace, and prosperity for all Sri Lankans, both at home and across the globe.

The 15th Sri Lanka University Games was held on 4th September 2025.The proud Emeralds’ Cadets participated at the invitation of the Rajarata University of Sri Lanka to glorify the opening ceremony that day.

15 වන ශ්‍රී ලංකා විශ්ව විද්‍යාල ක්‍රීඩා උළෙල 2025 සැප්තැම්බර් මස 4 වන දින පැවැත්විණි.එදින සමාරම්භක උත්සවය උත්කර්ෂවත් කිරීම සඳහා ශ්‍රී ලංකා රජරට විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ ආරාධනයෙන් අනුරාධපුර මධ්‍ය විද්‍යාලයීය අභිමානවත් ශිෂ්‍යභටයින් සහභාගී විය.

Again their “Guard of honor Salute” to the air…..

Abises ’25 – The Prefects’ Investiture Ceremony was held on August 22nd.

The event was graced by the Chief Guest,Newly promoted Major General Kanchana Weerasekara, a distinguished alumnus of the Central College.

To mark the occasion,Emeralds’ Cadets presented a guard of honor salute to the chief guest.

නැවතත් ඔවුන්ගේ "ගෞරවනීය උත්තමාචාරය" වා තලයට….

අබිසෙස් '25 - ශිෂ්‍යනායක නිළ ලාංඡන පැළඳවීමේ උත්සවය පසුගිය අගෝස්තු 22වන දින පැවැත්විය.

මෙම උත්සවයට මධ්‍ය විද්‍යාලයීය කීර්තිමත් ආදි ශිෂ්‍ය,අභිනවයෙන් උසස්වීම් ලද මේජර් ජෙනරල් කංචන වීරසේකර ප්‍රධාන ආරාධිතයා ලෙස සහභාගී විය.

මෙම අවස්ථාව අභිමානවත් කරනු වස් අනුරාධපුර මධ්‍ය විද්‍යාලීය ශිෂ්‍යභටයින් විසින් ප්‍රධාන ආරාධිතයා වෙත සිය සම්මාන උත්තමාචාරය පුදකෙරීය.

We are immensely proud to announce that Mr. W.B.M. Kanchana G.K. Weerasekara, a distinguished old boy of the 91st batch of Anuradhapura Central College, has been promoted to the rank of Major General in the Sri Lanka Army Special Forces.

From excelling in Mathematics and sprinting on our school grounds to conquering national athletics, Major General Weerasekara’s journey has leapt far beyond the classroom and track, evolving into a life of extraordinary service to our nation. Over 33 years of distinguished military service, training in 11 countries, three Master’s Degrees in Defence, and 19 decorations including WWV, RWP, and RSP, have shaped him into a true embodiment of leadership, courage, and excellence.

As an old boy of Anuradhapura Central College, he continues to bring honour to our alma mater, inspiring generations of students to rise with discipline, knowledge and patriotism.

We congratulate Major General Kanchana Weerasekara with immense pride and wish him every success on his future endeavors.
