No visa’s yet : Standby players still in Sri Lanka

Cricketers Asitha Fernando, Matheesha Pathirana, and Niroshan Dickwella are still in Sri Lanka awaiting their visas to travel to Australia.

Sri Lanka Cricket had decided to send the three cricketers as standby players during the weekend with a series of injuries for several players in the squad.

However, it is unclear why Sri Lanka Cricket authorities did not take the visas earlier for the players who were on standby for the T20 World Cup.

Sri Lanka now only has Kasun Rajitha and Pramod Madushan as additional fast bowlers with Binura Fernando likely to be ruled out of the tournament. (NewsWire)

Hashan resigns from SLC, accepts Bangladesh job

Former Sri Lanka Test Captain Hashan Tillakaratne has accepted the post of Head Coach of the Bangladesh Women’s cricket team.

Tillakaratne recently resigned as the Head Coach of the Sri Lanka Women’s team.

His resignation comes with less than 5 months for the Women’s ODI World Cup 2023 in South Africa.

Under his stint, the Sri Lanka Women’s Team reached the final of the recently concluded Asia Cup but lost to India by 8 wickets.

During his playing career, Tillakaratne racked up 4,545 runs at an average of 42.87 n 83 Tests, while his 200 ODIs brought him 3,789 runs at 29.60.

He made his debut in 1986 and retired from international cricket in 2004, and all forms of cricket in 2006, before turning his attention toward coaching. (NewsWire)
