♞ What is a Smothered Mate?

A Smothered Mate is a spectacular checkmate where a Knight delivers the final check, while the king is completely trapped by its own pieces.

The opponent’s own army becomes the villain — blocking every escape square and leaving the king with nowhere to go! 😈♟️

The Knight doesn’t need much help… the king is simply smothered by its own army.
