Every board has a story. We just help it continue.🎨
Matching colors, restoring lines, until the repair becomes part of the board again.

Let’s have some fun 🌈
Surfing isn’t about who’s best.
It’s about who’s smiling the most.
Shared waves, salty laughs, messy wipeouts.
That’s the real soul of surfing.
Less ego, more joy.
Because the best surfer is the one having the most fun.
Surf culture has always been about more than skills.
Here, progress isn’t measured in trophies but in freedom, friendship, and fun.
That’s what we ride for.

From Fishing Roots to Surf Spins 🎣
Where it all began..
Long before surfboards touched the shores of Sri Lanka, the ocean shaped lives in a different way.
Fishermen rose before sunrise, trusting the tides to feed their families and shape their future. Their rhythm followed nature, built on tradition, patience, and the pulse of the sea.
Surfing first arrived in the 1960s and 1990s with barefoot travelers and hippies exploring the waves in Mirissa, Hikkaduwa and Arugam Bay. But it remained a visitor phenomenon, until the tsunami changed everything.
In 2004, waves over 30 meters high struck Sri Lanka. Among the aid that arrived were surfboards, first used for rescue, then for riding.
What began as lifesaving efforts sparked a surf revolution. Where once fishing boats ruled the waves, now surfers and locals write new stories.
That’s how surfing found its way into the hearts of many Sri Lankans. A story not just of waves, but of resilience, rebirth, and transformation.
Today, surfing is more than a sport.
It’s culture. It’s connection. It’s home.

Meet Sitha 🤙🏾🇱🇰
Surfer, shaper & soul behind Calu Surfboards.
Calu is a young surfboard startup born right here in Sri Lanka.
Sitha, a passionate surfer and instructor, had a simple dream:
To make beautiful, sustainable boards and shape them locally.
Sri Lanka is home to an amazing surf culture and lots of great surf schools.
But when it comes to repairs or locally shaped boards, there’s still a gap.
Sitha is here to change that.
He pours heart and craft into every board, handmade, built to ride, built to last.

Waves, palms & beginnings 🌴
Somewhere between the waves and the palms, that’s where Calu was born.
What started as a shared love for the ocean turned into a journey of shaping boards and capturing moments that matter.
From the shores of Sri Lanka, for those who live to move with the tide. 🌊🏄🏽♀️
