We are honoured to announce that the appointment of Mr. Richard Alexander as Deputy representative of Japan Karatedo Itosukai Sri Lanka has been officially extended by Soke Sadaaki Sakagami, the Head of Itosuryu Karatedo (Japan).
This extension reflects continued confidence in his leadership, dedication, and unwavering service toward the growth, discipline, and technical development of Itosukai Karatedo in Sri Lanka, in accordance with the teachings of Itosuryu and the guidance of the Itosukai.

We look forward to his continued contribution in strengthening unity, maintaining high standards, and guiding the future progress of Itosukai Sri Lanka under the direction of Shihan R.J.Alexander and Soke Sakagami.

Black Belt Award Ceremony Successfully Held at Cinnamon Grand Hotel Colombo (14th December 2025)

A short clip documenting the successful Black Belt Award Ceremony, organized by the Japan Karatedo Itosukai Sri Lanka Branch, was recently produced.
The event took place on 14th December 2025 at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel, Colombo, and was graced by the esteemed presence of Renshi Ayumu Oda (General Secretary, Itosuryu Karatedo International Federation), Shihan R.J. Alexander (Chief Instructor and Representative of the Sri Lanka Branch), General Secretary, Mr.Banuka Gunarathna and Deputy representative Sensei Alexander Richard of Itosukai Sri Lanka.
Black Belt certificates were ceremonially presented and issued directly by 4th Generation Grand Master of Itosuryu Karatedo, Soke Sadaaki Sakagami, underscoring the international prestige of the occasion.
The gathering was attended by members of Itosukai, their families, and notable guests, celebrating their achievements in the traditional art of Karatedo.
The ceremony reflects the dedication of the Japan Karatedo Itosukai Sri Lanka Branch in promoting martial excellence and cultural exchange.
