Sometimes we forget that we are merely visitors in their world, coexisting with these remarkable creatures ✨

At Aluth Gala, also known as “New Rock Pinnacle,” you’ll have the privilege of sharing the water with the vibrant Red-Toothed Triggerfish that call this reef home 🐠 A beautiful reminder of the life thriving beneath the surface..

🌊🗑️ Reef Clean-Up at Unawatuna with MEPA

Yesterday, we teamed up with the Marine Environment Protection Authority (MEPA) for a reef clean-up in Unawatuna.

The sea conditions were rough, and much of the waste had already been washed ashore before we entered the water, meaning there was less debris underwater than expected. However, the most common items we found were plastic bottles and beer cans - a reminder that even small pieces of litter can have a lasting impact on our oceans.

Unfortunately, during the clean-up, our Dive Master, Desh, was stung by a venomous Portuguese man o’ war that remained attached to him all the way back to the boat! What started as a clean-up quickly became an emergency, forcing us to cut the dive short and focus on getting him the medical attention he needed ⛑️

Thankfully, Desh was safely transported to hospital and made a full recovery after a few hours 🙏🏼

This incident is also an important reminder that the ocean is home to incredible wildlife, and we must always be aware of our surroundings and mindful of what we touch while in the water.

As for the litter we found.. there is simply no excuse for it ending up in our reefs and oceans. If you finish a drink and can’t find a bin, take it home and dispose of it properly. One bottle. One can. One small action can make a huge difference ♻️

Together, we can protect our reefs, our marine life, and our planet. 🌍🩵

🌿🌊 It may be our low/green season in Unawatuna but our beach is looking as beautiful as ever for you to enjoy your sunny travels on!

We recommend hitting the beach early on as the afternoon sometimes bring some (refreshing) showers ☀️☔️

We still have some activities available for this time of the year but best to give us a message before to have a chat before turning up! 🤿

Happy Green Season southern Sri Lanka 🍃🇱🇰

🌊🩵 Happy World Oceans Day!

In honour of World Oceans Day, we are joining hands with Marine Environment Protection Authority-Sri Lanka (MEPA) for our Ocean Clean-Up Day in Unawatuna Bay, on 10th June.

Together, we’re taking action to remove pollution from our marine environment and help preserve our oceans for future generations.

Every piece of litter removed is a step towards cleaner shores, healthier marine life, and a more sustainable future.

Join us as we make a difference—one clean-up at a time. 🌎♻️🌊
