SPAIN are the champions of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after defeating holders Argentina 1-0 in the final played at MetLife Stadium in New York New Jersey.

The match ended 0-0 after 90 minutes but Barcelona forward Ferran Torres came off the bench to score in the 110th minute of extra time.

It was a combination of substitutes with Athletic Club winger of Ghanaian descent Nico Williams assisting Torres' goal.

Spain win the tournament with only one goal conceded.

'La Furia Roja' win their second FIFA World Cup having won the 2010 edition when Andres Iniesta scored an extra time goal to lead them to a 1-0 victory over Netherlands.

For Argentina, they have now lost four of their seven finals in FIFA World Cup history after losing the 1930,1990, 2014 and now the 2026 editions.
