Kickball could be set for the return of one of its most recognizable tacticians, as former Montserrado County Head Coach Mengistu M. Kulee edges closer to a comeback after years away from the touchline.

Kulee, who last coached Montserrado County in 2016, is reportedly in talks ahead of November’s National County Sports Meet (NCSM). However, the identity of the county that could secure his services remains unclear.

The experienced tactician has an impressive résumé. He guided the Cassava Leaf Girls of Grand Cape Mount County to a third-place finish at the 2019 NCSM and holds LKF License A & B credentials, alongside three Intra-Governmental Tournament titles.

Before his potential return to the county stage, Kulee is set to make his touchline appearance in the opening match of the 2026 LKF Montserrado District League, where he will lead District #2 against District #5 at the Jacob Town Sports Pitch.

His potential return is already generating buzz within the Liberia Kickball Federation, with reports suggesting that Kulee could combine his experience with a group of high-caliber, “classical” players once his next county destination is confirmed.

Still, questions remain. Some sports analysts believe Kulee’s experience will have to adapt to the evolving pace, tactics and style of modern kickball if he is to make an immediate impact.
