Chauncy B. Freeman keeping Watanga in title race

Former Liberia U-20 international Chauncy B. Freeman's electrifying form has helped inspired Watanga FC to a title challenge this season.

The 20-year old attacker has been very instrumental in his side attempt to challenge for the Orange First Division National League this season.

The dazzling striker scored 4 goals and provided additional 5 assist in 11 appearances to help his team finish in second position at the end of the first phase, level on 20 points with Freeport FC.

Freeman, who is also Watanga's topscorer this season has been a nightmare for opposition defenses with his quick feet and amazing dribbling skills.

Chauncy B. Freeman will be looking to keep up his impressive form when Watanga FC kickoff the second phase of League at The Northstar Sports Stadium against Nimba United on Sunday afternoon.

Kailondo Appointed As Mobilization Committee Chairperson of Lofa County

Business Man George Kailondo has been appointed Mobilization Committee Chairperson of Lofa County Sports Steering Committee for 2021/2022 edition of the National County Sports meet, Sylvester Tamba reports.

Mr. Kailondo was appointed on Thursday, 28 October by Lofa County Sports Steering Committee Chairman, Momo Cyrus.

The Business man was appointed along with several other members on different Committees.

Those appointed are: Mr. Joseph FarKollie, adviser to the steering committee, Mr. Kolubah Zayzay, Publicity Committee Chairperson, Dr. Siah Carmano, Warefare Committee chairperson, Dr. Nathaniel Blama, Planning Committee Chairperson, Commissioner Julia Russell, Follow up Committee Chairperson amongst others.

World Girls Pre-season Tourney Reaches Semifinals Stage

The maiden edition of the World Girls' pre-season tournament has reached its semifinals stage following first round of matches on Wednesday.

In the first match at 2pm on Thursday 28, 2021, DC Shooters who defeated Lead Monrovia Football Academy 1-0 will lock horn with tournament host, World Girls who whipped Blanco 3-1.

While in the second semifinal match, Senior Pro who defeated Pro Sister 5-4 on post match penalty after regular time ended 1-1 will played Earth Angel who demolished Island Queens 8-0 in the last encounter at the Tusa Field in Garnerville.

Bea Mountain Crown Champions of Jungle Water Cup

Bea Mountain defeated Muscat FC 2-0 to be crowned champions of the maiden edition of the Jungle Water Cup to walk away with LD $ 100,000.00 at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex Practice Pitch.

Mark Paye converted from the penalty spot after Edward Ledlum was brought down in the def.

The Gold boys were 2-0 ahead when Yaya Bility found Ledlum with brilliant pass and the midfielder wasted to time to double the lead going into the second half.

Muscat had chance of the only, they came to scoring twice in the second half but they were denied by Allenton Semgbeh who was tremendous in goal.

However, Mascat were awarded LD$ 40,000.00 as they finished second in the tournament.

Van-Dave Harmon Gets 15 minutes of action against Kastrioti

Liberia international forward, Van-Dave Harmon who has currently returned from injury, got 15 minutes of action for his side KF LaΓ§i against Kastrioti in 1-0 away win.

Van-Dave Harmon who scored for Liberia in the 2-1 defeat against Cape Varde suffered an injury in the 61 minutes against the Blue Sharks.

The forward has since returned to league action as Mentor Mazrekaj goal in the 71 minutes was enough to grab all three points.

World Girls to Kickoff Pre-season Tourney

World Girls, a first division female team will kick-off a maiden pre-season tournament with eight female teams participating on October 27, 2021 at the Tusa Field in Garnerville.

The eight teams to participate in the tournament are: female champions, Determine Girls, Senior Pro, City Football Academy, Lead Monrovia Football Academy, Blanco, DC Shooters, Earth Angels and hosts World Girls.

According to the organizers, the tournament is intended for female clubs to prepare before the start of the new season.

The organizers further explained that each participant will receive $2,500 before the game, with the winner walking with LD$60,000.00 and the runner-up being awarded LD$40,000.00.

World Girls president, Madam Rochell Woodson, explained to SportsLiberia that the tournament is a way of keeping players in form ahead of the new league season.

Madam Woodson, who is dubbed the 'Iron Lady' of Liberian Football, revealed that the tournament will be hosted annually with an option to increase the participating teams.

Said Madam Woodson, "We will have this pre-season tournament every year before the league starts, and next year the teams will be increase."

Captain Lamine Says 'Squad is Prepared,' Apologizes for Defeat Against Senegal,

Kebeh Lamine who was called out of retirement by female national team head Coach, Robert Lartey, has apologized to Liberians for the team 2-1 defeat to Senegal in the Women's AFCON qualifiers in Monrovia.

According to the female national team skipper, the squad is prepared ahead of the Tuesday fixture against Senegal on October 26, 2021 in Taas.

Captain Lamine who admitted that the players suffered from fatigue following the late arrival on Friday, is optimistic that they can overturn the 2-1 deficit against their Senegalese counterparts.

Said Lemine, "Even though the team suffered from fatigue following our late arrival on Friday and we had to travel over an hour to do a first practice session on Saturday morning, we're prepared for Tuesday's challenge."

"Firstly, I want to say sorry to the Liberians for the way we conducted ourselves in the first leg following that 2-1 home defeat to Senegal at the ATS on Wednesday.

"We're optimistic of turning that score line around...the spirit in the camp is good. The girls are prepared to give it their all and we'll be trying to win the game on Tuesday," Kebeh added.
