Breaking News from Hon. Nathaniel F. McGill , Senator of Margibi County ๐๏ธ๐ฐ
"After Bea Mountain's recent announcement that it's generating around $1 billion, many Liberians are rightfully concerned about how much the government is actually getting from the company, beyond its CSR contributions. Here's what I've found (pending verification by the Ministry of Finance and LRA):
- Types of taxes paid
- How the total value is split between government and company
Liberians deserve clearer transparency and accountability here ๐."

From hardship to hope:
Thinker Village Chairman calls on government to finish transformative road project
Thinker Village, once infamous for its muddy roads, is now experiencing a positive shift that its chairman says is bringing back hope and dignity to the community. For many years, both residents and commuters faced daily challengesโthick dust in the dry season and flooded, muddy roads during the rainy months.
Now, a government road project initiated a year ago is visibly reshaping the community, marking a fresh start. However, the chairman noted that the work is still incomplete.
In an exclusive interview, Thinker Village General , William Todd, thanked the government for launching the project but strongly urged that it be completed on time.
โWe appreciate what the government began here last year,โ he said. โThis road is already improving our lives, but we are appealing to the President of Liberia to accelerate the work so our people can fully benefit.โ
Mr. Todd emphasized that the drainage construction will greatly ease the burden on residents, especially those living near the road who have long suffered from flooding.
โDuring the rainy season, water used to enter our homes and damage our property,โ he explained. โWith these drainage systems in place, we believe this issue will soon be resolved.โ
He further described the project as more than just road development, noting that it brings safety, better access, and improved living conditions.
โThis is not only about roads,โ he added. โItโs about connecting people, boosting businesses, and creating a better environment for our children.โ
Additionally, . Todd mentioned the ongoing alleyway construction efforts by the Ministry of Public Works, encouraging residents to stay patient and cooperative as work progresses.
โWe must recognize that development comes with temporary discomfort,โ he said. โThe noise and inconvenience wonโt last, but the benefits will. Let us support the contractors and authorities to ensure the project is completed successfully.โ

โRep. Samuel Brown Rehabilitates 62 Roads in Ganta, Boosting Connectivity Across District #1
โ
โGanta, Nimba county......Residents of Ganta City in Nimba County Electoral District #1 are now benefiting from improved road access, following the rehabilitation of over 62 community roads by Representative Samuel N. Brown Sr.

โ
โSpeaking to RKFM, the research Officer in Representative Brown's office, G Aloysius Lincoln said road development is a key priority for the lawmaker. Latest updates from the house of representatives as they
The Plenary of the House of Representatives has forwarded to its Committee on Banking and Currency an instrument seeking legislative authorization for the printing of additional Liberian dollar banknotes for the period 2026 to 2030.
The House' decision on Thursday, April 9, 2026, followed a communication from President Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr., to the august body.
According to the communication, the proposal is in line with Section 6(b) and (c) of the amended Act establishing the Central Bank of Liberia, which empowers the bank to issue and manage the Liberian dollar to promote monetary and financial stability.
The President stated that the primary objective of the request is to secure legislative approval for additional printing capacity, including emergency provisions, to maintain adequate liquidity and support national economic policies.
The communication further stressed that since 1999, the Central Bank has conducted three major currency replacement exercises, with the most recent between 2021 and 2024 involving the printing of L$48.734 billion to replace legacy currency valued at L$25.8 billion and to meet growing transactional demand.
However, challenges such as rising volumes of mutilated banknotes, declining reserve holdings, increased reliance on cash transactions, and growing demand for Liberian dollars due to economic expansion have necessitated additional printing.
As of December 31, 2025, only 7.06 percent of banknotes remain in reserve, a level described as critically inadequate to sustain liquidity requirements for 2026 and beyond.
The President emphasized that the additional printing will help replace damaged notes, support transactions in both the public and private sectors, strengthen foreign exchange reserves, and advance Liberiaโs de-dollarization efforts and readiness for regional monetary integration within the Economic Community of West African States framework.
President Boakai assured lawmakers that the government remains committed to transparency and accountability in the ex*****on of the exercise, noting that the Central Bank of Liberia will provide periodic reports to the Legislature on the progress and outcomes of the proposed banknote printing program.
Meanwhile, the committee is expected to review and report within the statutory period of the special session.
