Yesterday a group of young boys and girls Left the Kingdom of Lesotho to compete in the African Junior Individual and Team Champion (AJC) and have safely landed In Botswana where the tournament will take place. The teams are composed of 16&U as well as 14&U.

EXPERT OPPORTUNITY AT LESOTHO LAWN TENNIS ASSOCIATION
The Lesotho Lawn Tennis Association (LLTA) is the official national governing body for tennis in the Kingdom of Lesotho. Established to promote, regulate, and develop the sport across all districts, the LLTA serves as the central authority responsible for nurturing talent, building competitive pathways, and representing the country in regional and international tennis forums.
The Lesotho Lawn Tennis Association (LLTA) is seeking an exceptional and highly skilled Junior Tennis Initiative (JTI) Coordinator to lead the strategic implementation and national expansion of the ITF’s flagship Junior Tennis Initiative. This opportunity requires an experienced tennis professional with demonstrable expertise in youth
development, technical coaching, and programme leadership within the sport development ecosystem. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate tennis professional who is committed to youth development and eager to contribute to the growth of tennis across Lesotho.
*Purpose of the Role*
The Junior Tennis Initiative (JTI) Coordinator will lead, manage, and expand the JTI Programme in Lesotho. This role focuses on identifying, developing, and supporting young tennis talent (14 years and under), organising junior tennis activities, and strengthening partnerships within the national tennis ecosystem. The Coordinator will work closely with the Lesotho Lawn Tennis Association (LLTA), schools, communities, and national stakeholders to promote tennis at grassroots level and increase participation across all districts.
The position is based in Maseru, with regular travel to other districts required. The JTI Coordinator reports administratively to the LLTA Secretary General and technically to the LLTA Vice President Development.
*Role Overview*
The JTI Coordinator will serve as the technical lead for the national Junior Tennis Initiative in Lesotho. The expert will drive the programme’s strategic direction, strengthen development pathways for players aged 14 and under, and build sustainable structures that promote mass participation and early talent identification nationwide. The role requires advanced planning, stakeholder coordination, technical coaching knowledge, and the ability to design impactful development activities that align with LLTA and ITF development frameworks.
Key Expert Responsibilities
The appointed expert will be accountable for:
Programme Leadership & Technical Direction
• Providing strategic and technical oversight for the JTI Programme.
• Ensuring programme alignment with LLTA and ITF development standards and long-term tennis pathways.
• Managing the operational rollout of JTI across schools, clubs, and community centres.
Talent Identification & Player Pathway Development
• Designing and executing talent identification systems for U-14 athletes.
• Supporting young players through structured, development-appropriate coaching frameworks.
• Strengthening the pipeline between grassroots players and higher-performance structures.
Event & Capacity-Building Coordination
• Leading the organisation of junior tournaments, festivals, and outreach events.
• Supporting capacity building for teachers, coaches, and volunteers involved in JTI activities.
Stakeholder & Partnership Engagement
• Building coordinated partnerships with schools, district structures, clubs, and community organisations.
• Working closely with LLTA leadership and national sport stakeholders to enhance programme reach and
impact.
Resource Mobilisation & Visibility
• Supporting LLTA’s resource mobilisation efforts, including sponsorships, grants, and government
partnerships.
• Producing professional content to showcase programme achievements on LLTA communication channels.
Monitoring, Reporting & Compliance
• Developing and maintaining robust monitoring frameworks for programme activities.
• Preparing high-quality technical reports for LLTA and ITF.
• Ensuring strict adherence to child safeguarding and safe-sport standards.
Professional Experience
• Extensive experience in tennis coaching, youth development, or programme coordination.
• Proven ability to design and implement sports development initiatives.
• Strong experience working with young people and community structures.
• Demonstrated understanding of tennis development frameworks and coaching methodology.

• Technical mastery of tennis fundamentals and junior development coaching.
• Strong strategic planning, organisational, and event-management capabilities.

📌 Additional Requirements
• Preference will be given to candidates affiliated with LLTA-registered clubs.
• Integrity, background, and safeguarding checks may be required.
• Must be willing to travel and work across all districts.
📚 Required Qualifications & Technical Expertise
Education
• Diploma in one of the following: Sport Coaching, Physical Education, Sport Science, Sport
Management, Recreation and Leisure Studies, and/or Exercise Science plus five years’
experience in the field.
Or
• Senior Certificate (COSC/Matric) or equivalent with 10 years’ experience in the field.
Tennis Coaching Qualifications (Core Requirement)
Candidates should hold at least one of the following, with higher levels strongly preferred:
Essential (Minimum):
• ITF Play Tennis Certification
• ITF Junior Tennis Certification
• ITF Coaching Beginner & Intermediate Players – Level 1
Highly Preferred (Expert Level):
• ITF Coaching Advanced Players – Level 2
• ITF Coaching High Performance Players – Level
📄 Proposal Requirement
All applicants must submit a brief proposal (2–4 pages) outlining how they will implement and deliver the Junior Tennis Initiative (JTI) Programme.
The proposal should cover the following:
1. Implementation Plan
A short description of how the applicant will roll out the JTI programme, including school outreach, player identification, equipment management, and safeguarding.
2. 12-Month Workplan
Key activities, timelines, and expected outcomes.
3. Talent Identification Approach
How the applicant will scout, select, and develop young players (14 years and under).
4. Events & Activities
Proposed junior festivals, tournaments, and community activation activities.
5. Stakeholder Collaboration
How they will work with LLTA, schools, clubs, and district structures.
6. Reporting & Monitoring
How programme data, progress, and records will be maintained and reported to LLTA/ITF.
7. Communication
How programme activities will be captured and shared on LLTA communication platforms.

Congratulations Ntate President
Hlomisi appointed as the Regional Tennis Technical Delegate.
Mr. Kamohelo Hlomisi, Deputy President of the Lesotho Sports and Recreation Commission (LSRC), President of the Lesotho Lawn Tennis Association (LLTA), and Secretary General of the Zone V Tennis Executive Committee, has been officially elected as the Technical Delegate for Tennis at the AUSC Region 5 Youth Games Mozambique 2026.
This prestigious appointment reflects Mr. Hlomisi’s unwavering commitment to sports development, regional collaboration, and technical excellence. As Technical Delegate, he will oversee the planning, ex*****on, and quality assurance of tennis competitions, ensuring alignment with international standards and the AUSC Region 5 values of youth empowerment, unity, and sporting integrity.
His leadership will be instrumental in shaping a memorable and impactful Games edition, as Mozambique prepares to host the 12th Region 5 Youth Games from 4–13 December 2026.

Lesotho Lawn Tennis Association is sad to report on the death of Hae Edward Phoofolo KC who passed away today at age of 78. Ntate Hae is a long-standing member and athlete of LLTA. As the Federation we are very grateful to have played this Veteran even in his aging days! May His Soul rest in eternal Peace!

Today Lesotho Lawn Tennis Association started an ITF/OS Coaching Beginner & Intermediate Players Course. The course focuses on building foundational coaching competencies, including understanding player development, applying training principles, and utilizing appropriate methodologies for this player group. The training will end on the 31st August 2025
