Star Schetter vs Grand Duchy Warriors — LCF Division II Luxembourg

Result: Star Schetter won by 40 runs

Star Schetter 143/4 (13 ov, RR 11.00) beat Grand Duchy Warriors 103/4 (13 ov, RR 7.92)

The Story in Glory :
Star Schetter set a statement total and never looked back.
The foundation was pure class from Stars JuniorJames Maclear — 45 off 31 balls (4 fours, 1 six, SR 145.16). He anchored, he rotated, he punished anything loose, falling only to a run out after doing the hard work.

At the other end, wicketkeeper Shishir Saraswat was electric — 41 off just 22 balls at 186.36 SR with 7 boundaries. That 85-run opening stand in just 8.3 overs broke the back of the Warriors attack. He was the aggressor Schetter Stars loved to watch.

Then came the finisher — Shuchith Raghu — 16 off 4 balls at 400.00 SR (2x4, 1x6). Came in, went boom, and pushed Schetter from good to match-winning 143. Vineet 17 off 10 at 170 gave him perfect support.

With the ball, Captain Muhammad Ali (C) was the lone warrior for GDW — 2-0-13-0 at 6.50, the only bowler who kept Schetter quiet while everyone else went for 12-13 an over.

In the chase, Wahab Khan fought like a true Warrior — 39 off 28 (4x4, 1x6, SR 139.29) and Azlan Faraz (WK) 26 off 19 (5x4, SR 136.84) put on 58 for the 3rd wicket and gave hope at 73/2 to 95/4.

But Star Schetter's bowling unit was ruthless and disciplined:

• Sujesh Singh — The Game Changer: 2-0-8-1, ER 4.00 — broke the top order, including Talha lbw, and choked the run rate from the start.

• Vikrant Naik (C) 2-0-21-1 and Vivek Gangwar 2-0-17-1 picked the crucial middle-order wickets of Wahab and Azlan right when Warriors were building momentum.

• Introduction to a class junior Manraj Virdee 3-0-23-0 at 7.70 held his nerve in the middle overs.
It was written dad Harpal Singh Virdee coaching all over. A proud dad.

Fall of wickets tells it all — Warriors slipped to 15-2 in 2.6 ov and never recovered despite the Wahab-Azlan fightback.

Top players of game :
1. James Maclear (45) & Shishir Saraswat (41) — match-defining opening blitz

2. Shuchith Raghu (16_ off 4) — ultimate finisher

3. Sujesh Singh (1/8) & Muhammad Ali (0/13) — most economical and impactful bowlers on the day

4. Wahab Khan (39) — lone resistance for Warriors

With this game, Stars conclude their 2026 Outdoors campaign.

Star 2 vs Heritage Hurricanes, Saturday 12th of September

Last year's finalists met again for the last dance — a 17-over thriller at Walferdange.

Star 2 won the toss and batted.

The Harpal Singh Virdee Show. Rohit fell early for a quick 4, but Harpal arrived in beast mode. Like his perfect masala chai — right heat, spice, and sweetness — he brewed a perfect 53 off 38 (9x4). At the other end, Rishikesh was the perfect anchor with a composed 30 off 32, running hard and holding the innings together.

Karthik's 3 wickets triggered a wobble, but Star 2 put up a competitive 142/8 (17).

The Chase — Sujesh & The Cartel.

Heritage needed 143 and Sujesh killed the chase early. The in-swing king removed Alston on 2nd ball and went for just 3 in his opening burst. Ranjit kept it scary from the other end. Then Sujesh struck again — Salil out to a stunning backwards-running catch by Neeraj. Powerplay: 24/2.

Vijay's spin brought a breathtaking slip catch by Rishikesh, Neeraj chipped in with crucial wickets, and then the moment of the day — Romeel (43 off 34), Heritage's last hope, fell to Neeraj with an astonishing catch by Roshan.

And poetry on the pitch: Father and son, Roshan and Sean, bowling in tandem in a final. Sean deceived with flight, Roshan delivered a maiden over in a 17-over game — as rare as it gets.

Heritage: 120/7. Star 2 win by 22 runs.

Top Performers :
Star 2: Harpal 53 (38), Rishikesh 30 (32) | Sujesh 3/21, Neeraj 2/15
Heritage: Romeel 43 (34), Mangrish 20 (15) | Karthik 3/20, Vinay 1/20

Star 2 close the outdoor season on high curtailing their season at Walferdange.

And when season is at end, focus turns on players achievements, and without it would have been a added struggle for club to achieve what it has today.

🏆 LCF Division 1 – Best Batter Award 🏆

Advyth Manepalli’s season has been nothing short of a dream run.

7 games. 289 runs. Average of 96.33. Strike rate of 136.32. Two fifties, but more importantly, innings that came when the team needed them the most.

Against OCC 2nd XI, when we needed to put up a respectable total, Advyth played a brilliant 65 off 47 balls*, holding the innings together and making sure we finished strongly.

Against Heritage, chasing 152 on a difficult scoring ground, he once again showed his class with an unbeaten 46 off 33 balls, staying till the end and making sure we crossed the line.

And then came the OCC 1st XI qualifier. Chasing 183 in a high-pressure game, Mr. Dependable delivered yet again — 72 off 48 balls*. Another big innings, another big occasion, another Advyth performance.

What makes Advyth special is not just the numbers. It’s the way he bats.

T20 cricket is often about brute force and big hitting, but Advyth is redefining the way he plays the format. Elegant shots, constant running between the wickets, punishing loose deliveries and keeping the scoreboard moving. He makes batting look effortless while consistently putting the team in winning positions.

And he is getting better every season.

Today, Advyth has earned the respect of everyone around him. When he is at the crease, no matter how difficult the situation or how big the challenge, there is always a feeling that Advyth will find a way to get us across the bridge.

A truly deserved Best Batter of LCF Division 1 award.

Congratulations, Advyth. Keep raising the bar. We are incredibly proud of you! 👏🏏🔥

Congratulations Amit.

🏏 A Season to Remember for Star CC 🏏

The final played at Walferdange Oval against OCC 1st XI on Sunday 6th of August didn’t go the way team desired, but what a season it has been for Star CC. ❤️

OCC 1st XI posted 207/6 in their 20 overs, with Hashmat Momand playing an outstanding innings of 66 off just 24 balls.

Star CC started chase with hope as Shiv Karan Gill played some beautiful, elegant shots, but chasing a big total proved too much on the day. Star finishing on 123/9 after 20 overs.

One game doesn’t define this team or this season.
Star CC won 7 games on the trot, played some fantastic cricket throughout the league, and showed the character to fight back whenever games seemed to be slipping away. The belief, togetherness and trust within this team has been something special.

Star CC may not have finished the season with the trophy, but are incredibly proud of what has been achieved.

This team is more than one final. This season is more than one result.

A huge thank you to every player, supporter and everyone behind Star CC who made this journey so special.

Team take the lessons, keep the belief, and will come back stronger. 💙🏏

Proud to be Star CC. ⭐

Thanks to Optimists Cricket Club and their ground staff for providing amazing field througout the season. Hat’s off to dedication and all the help.

Thanks to all our sponsors, without your support we would not be where we are as club and a family today.

Match report from Thursday 13th of August between Schetter Stars and Communities CC.

Selecting to bat first, Schetter started cautiously with Jason Wi******er and Ansh Trivedi rotating strike cautiously ( not to teams likings though) against good bowling attach from Arohan Bhandari and Keshav Singh.

Ansh struggling (he excused due to heat) scored 17 of 32 balls was cleaned up by Gagan Ahuja trying to accelerate on pressure shouts from outside. Jason with good support from James Maclear (12 from 11) accelerated and took bowling attack at strike rate of 128.07 scoring 73 of 57 balls, includes 9 fours, while his partners kept on falling scoring in single digits ( second highest score was 41 extras conceded by CCC).
Skipper Pranav Dholakia had clearly conveyed his target to team for 150 minimum as Star Schetter finished their innings at 167 for 6 in 20 overs. Thanks to 10 runs penalty for slow over rate from CCC.

Jason Wi******er: Formed the backbone of the innings, smashing 73 runs off 57 balls (including 9 fours) at a strike rate of 128.07.

Ansh Trivedi: Provided initial support with 17 runs off 32 balls.
Shishir Saraswat: Came in late with a quickfire cameo, hitting 8 runs off just 3 balls (2 fours).

Mohamed Mohideen: Picked up key wickets, finishing with 2/32 in 3 overs.

Keshar Singh: Kept things tight with an impressive economy rate of 5.25, taking 1/21 in 4 overs (15 dot balls).

Wickets were also shared by Arohan Bhandari (1/29), Deepak Gianchandani (1/28), and captain Gagan Ahuja (1/15).

Score on board, Schetter had only one job in hand, bowl with discipline and body behind the ball to stop CCC top batters taking the game away in power play. CCC openers, Arohan Bhandari and Ashray Siddiah batted smartly and put away any loose balls for boundary. On other end Ansh Trivedi kept on putting pressure with his out swinging jaffa’s troubling CCC bats to cope with.
Niraj Trivedi and Vikrant Naik were first change and immediately runs dried up for CCC batters forcing them to take risks and first wicket fell at 51 in 6th over. Except Tarun Raj accelerating from one end, CCC were pegged back and Schetter bowlers did not allow them to score freely creating pressure and in process CCC kept on loosing wickets at regular intervals, falling short of 16 runs despite 10 runs penalty accorded to CCC for Schetters slow over rate. Schetter bowled 27 extras in the process, way above what bowling performance depicts.

Vikrant Naik: The standout bowler for Star Schetter, ripping through the middle order to finish with figures of 3/27 in 4 overs.

Niraj Trivedi: Stifled the opposition batters with an economical spell of 1/17 in 4 overs (Econ: 4.25, 13 dot balls) along with contributing to a run-out.

Ansh Trivedi: Played a vital role, taking 1/27 in his 4 overs.

Schetter has their next game on Friday 4th of September against GD Warriors and will look forward to take their good performances forward to next round of games.
