The professional player holds serve in the high 90’s percentage-wise. The break point has become more crucial than ever. A professional tennis match can be deconstructed to a few key points; break points capitalized on. This is the sports highlight the casual fan needs to rely on. Often a straight set victory that sounds like a walk in the park is actually a highly contested and even battle that has the victor take advantage of 3-4 micro-opportunities. No one had a more dominant serve than Goran Ivanisevich, the dashing Croat who took Wimbledon in 2002.

Aaron Krickstein, a.k.a the Marathon Man had an uncanny resemblance to the Karate Kid (the young Ralph Macchio). An extreme talent who was on the wrong end of a career ending, heart-wrenching kerb stomping at the hands of Jimmy Connors at the 1991 U.S Open. What a match! One of Connor's greatest comebacks, but better remembered by Krickstein's colossal fold. Although he would continue playing, he never fully recovered...

The Superga shoe is pretty trendy these days, primarily as a casual canvas shoe favored by hipsters and debutantes. But who knew that the brand was a serious tennis shoe brand back in the 70's. In fashion, things never go out of style, they only hibernate.

We hear that Shia LaBeouf is set to ply Johnny Mac in the upcoming movie Borg vs McEnroe. He's got all of the mannerisms down pat, and now he's just refining his backhand. Should be a good one.

Wow! Del Potro's recent run is reminiscent of Jimbo's run at the Open in '91, when he too entered as an unseed and made it all the way to the semi's on perhaps one of the most miraculous run in recent memory. Here are 2 minutes of pure legend that bring it all back. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e38U3Oa3s5s

The summer of 1985 is perhaps best remembered by Anne White's 5ft 11 frame tightly fit in a one-piece body suit. She was definitely a sight at the Club not known for liking change. Or s*x. Her 1st round match against Pam Shriver was suspended by darkness on the first day. The next day, she was the headline in 5 of 8 newspapers. The cameras caught Prince Charles peering with heightened interest, back when he would come with Princess Di to watch the matches at Wimbeldon - some say that was the beginning of the end for them. When the match resumed, she lost in 3 sets. But, people still remember White in White.

The Philadelphia Cricket Club was founded in 1854 and is considered to be one of the most beautiful clubs in the country. Featuring 21 grass courts, 9 fast-dry courts, 2 indoor courts, and 4 platform tennis courts, it is aristocratic and effortlessly elegant. Joining the club on the other hand is anything but effortless and is only 'member sponsored' which is a nice way of saying that if you don't know someone at the club you are best advised to seek games elsewhere. http://www.philacricket.com/

NASTY. Also known as Ilie Nastase, the original bad boy of tennis, before there was a McEnroe, an Agassi or a Kyrgios. Here, pictured with Cheryl Tiegs, one of the reported 2502 women who shared an intimate moment or more with him off-court.
On-court, Nasty was one of the greatest talents the game had ever seen and dominated the sport for a good part of the early 70's. Part clown and part terror, Nastase could have dominated the sport much more if he'd only applied himself to such things as training and maintaining a proper diet.
