♟Happy Women’s Day!

♟The 23rd European Woman Chess Championship will take place from 17th-30th March 2023 in Hotel Palas, Petrovac, Montenegro.

♟More than 140 players from 34 European federations registered for event. The event features 6 Grandmasters, 15 Women Grandmasters, 35 International masters, and a total of 115 titled players. First 17 top – seeded players are rated 2400+.

The 10 top – seeds are GM Bela Khotenashvili (GEO, 2491), Valentina Gunina (FID, 2478), Gunay Mammadzada (AZE, 2472), Marsel Efroimski (ISR, 2451), Yuliia Osmak (UKR 2445), Lela Javakhishvili (GEO, 2443), Irina Bulmaga (ROU, 2438), Antoaneta Stefanova (BUL, 2435), Meri Arabidze (GEO, 2433), Monika Socko (POL, 2432).

The event will be played in 11 rounds, swiss system, with a time control of 90 minutes for 40 moves plus 30 minutes for the rest of the game with an increment of 30 seconds per move, starting from move one.

European Women Chess Championship 2023 implies the qualification for the World Women Championship in 2023. According to FIDE regulations and decision of the ECU Board, at least 9 players will qualify.

The total prize fund of the event is 60.000 EUR.
