Freediving to -70 meters in 80 days - Day #55 30/12/2020

Freediving to -70 meters in 80 days.

Hi folks!
It's been a while since we posted something here, that's because we are busy getting better on our own freediving in Bali.
Currently I (Fabian) am on a mission to to dive to 70 meters in only 80 days. I'm tracking my progress in a vlog either every day or every second day.

Here goes Day #55 which is a recap of what happened in the last 54 days. I am now starting a 12 day coaching with the awesome Julia Mouce from Apnea Bali, let's see if she will let me down to 70 meters once we get to the end of our time together.

Will I make it? Check out for yourself:

Ladies and Gentlemen, proud to present he first group ever participating in the Freedive Bootcamp.
An amazing week is coming to its end.
A week of freediving the beautiful bay of Kotor in Montenegro.
A week of overcoming fears, of learning how to fill your lungs with air and hold your breath for minutes
A week of movement sessions, yoga, stretching and theory sessions in the Lustica Mill House (in the background).
A week of letting go and surrendering to the ocean.
About a year ago when moving into the Mill House it all started with a dream: To become a freediving instructor, get people together from all around Europe and introduce them to this life changing sport. It all starts with those first thoughts. And then before you know it there is a website. And then you have to put some dates on there. And before you know it there is someone asking to book those dates, and then all 6 places are booked out and suddenly you're not making money in front of a computer screen anymore but with being a freediving teacher.
Due to covid this time we didn't have a cook and I was amazed of how a bunch of people who hardly knew each other went shopping together and got lunches and dinners on the table by cooking together. Amazed how a group of people can co-live in one house and get along well, even becoming friends and making plans of whom will visit whom in which country.
I will miss waking up early, jumping into the land rover and driving everyone to the dive spot, putting the suits on and leading people deeper into the dark blue. And I will miss the expression on their faces when they come up from their dives.
Luckily I don't have to wait long as the next group of students is already coming in 6 days.
None of this would have been possible without the amazing help of movement- and freediving instructor .bruno. We met in the internet, decided to do this together and he probably worked more than I did on this. Thanks for that brother and thanks for the awesome meals only a half Italian could cook together, see you next year for the next bootcamps!

New PB (personal best) for Fabian from Freedive Bootcamp during the Deep Week in Croatia:
59.1 meters in 2:18 minutes free immersion (FIM) with the mask on.

Fabian: "I was diving to 50 and 52 meters a couple of times already but never had enough air left to equalize after 45 meters and had to turn.
What made the difference yesterday were two things:
1) I switched from continuous to sequential equalization after taking the mouthfill and arrived at the end of the line with enough air left to go even deeper.
2) I was totally relaxed, the hole dive felt like a dream, I wasn't at all thinking about what happens in the next couple of seconds or how much is left to arrive at the bottom or at the surface, I was totally in the zone and spent the whole day like flying on a cloud.
Somehow it feels like a new chapter of freediving has opened and new depths are unlocked and waiting for.
For now I won't go deeper, it is important to slowly adapt to the new depth to not risk any lung barotrauma or other injuries.
For now I will focus on exhale stretches as I felt pretty tight in the chest area after 55 meters.
I won't go deeper than 60 meters during the next dives, just continue to go to that kind of depth and relax, accept the pressure and do more stretching. Who knows, maybe when going to Dahab during the end of the year I will hit 70 meters."
