The annual futsal competition, the Ratak Cup, has reached its conclusion after being contested over the past 2 weeks.
A record 6 teams took part in the competition, with a number of new clubs in existence; Rita Plate and Real Majuro were eliminated after the group stage.
Ajeltake Arsenal were knocked out by the marauding Boca Lagoon in the semi-finals, Vasco da Laura toppling Rairok Flamengo in the other semi.
Boca Lagoon led the way from the very beginning, an unblemished group stage record, a 9-1 semi final win - but in the end it took a golden goal in extra time to overcome the plucky Vasco side.
Their match-winner was national team star Kairos Zinihite, 3 minutes before the lucky dip of a penalty shoot-out ensued. That goal was his 13th in the tournament, cementing his status as Golden Boot winner.
A shout out to 13 year old Kaboua Anterea of Rairok Flamengo as he was awarded Young Player of the Tournament.
The people’s favourites were Vasco. They showed up to the tournament unable to field a full team and had to recruit players who came to watch. They lost their first two games then went on a 4 game win streak to make the final pushing the undefeated Boca Lagoon all the way to extra time.

Ariana London recently received her first call‑up to the Marshall Islands Women’s National Futsal Team. At just 13, she was the youngest player selected and quickly stood out as a talented prospect. The Marshall Islands (famous for being the last nation on Earth without an international team) are now building their women’s program, with the goal of making their international debut in fall 2026 or spring 2027!
Keep crushing it Ariana and Marshall Islands Soccer Federation!

Trailblazers…
It was February 2024 when our Women’s National Team first came together for a training camp. The first time ever a group of players had pulled on a RMI soccer jersey.
2026 was the third Women’s National Team training camp, but this may have been the best yet. We hope that we’ll be able to find them a fixture, but these ladies are working harder than ever to prepare for that moment in history ✨💥

We’re continuing to strengthen our partnership with SOMI (Special Olympics Marshall Islands), and in December we hosted the latest instalment of our training programme with them, with coaches Tony Theomae and Oscar Belamana leading.
Our goal is to send a team to the 2027 Special Olympics in Chile, which will require a lot of hard work from all of the players, coaches, and federation.
The players showed off their futsal skills in the ECC Sports Hall, Majuro.

And what a year it’s been…
2025 will forever be etched as one of the most significant years in Marshall Islands sporting history.
Naturally, our 1st ever Men’s National Team fixture has dominated the headlines - but our project is about much more than those 90 minutes…
Back in January, Technical Director travelled to Kwajalein to oversee the 1st ever Inter-Island competition between Majuro and Kwajalein.
Over in the US, Women’s National Team coach ._ oversaw the 2nd National Team Camp - we’re still working on finding opposition for our team but they’re growing in numbers and working hard waiting for their shot.
Back in Majuro, we brought in a full-time from overseas for 1st time. In his 10 weeks on the island, coach and Bita helped develop the game phenomenally by overseeing the creation of new after school clubs.
Back in the US, our partnership with saw a joint basketball/soccer training session - the first of many we hope - helped by
Our attention soon turned to hosting the where we played our inaugural international men’s team matches vs US Virgin Islands and Turks & Caicos Islands respectively.
The fans turned UP and supported us, and in the second of the fixtures Josiah Blanton made history by scoring our 1st ever goal…
