Did you know that Lai Moon Traditional Martial Arts was officially registered in 1969 and is recognized as the Kanbawza family lineage school by the Myanmar Thaing Federation?

What started in the hills of Shan State as a vital form of self-defense eventually evolved into an esteemed court service, blending seamlessly with various traditional martial arts across Myanmar. Today, it’s a proud symbol of cultural identity, evolving from the battlefield into a powerful discipline for spiritual development, physical well-being, and artistic performance.

The Founding Grand Master Khue Ta Dee San Aye (25.11.1930 – 23.08.2021)

“Lai Moon is a dance, but also self-defense; it is an art, but also a science.”

Grand Master U Ta Dee San Aye studied under the thirteen greatest masters of the Shan State. He conducted extensive research on the knowledge and disciplines he received from them, analyzing both practical techniques and advanced martial principles. His research followed the traditional methods of studying and understanding the ancient medical anatomy of the "12 Numb Points and 11 Lethal Points" system. Through his dedication, he mastered the standard 18 art forms as well as the 28 secret forms passed down by the masters. Throughout the decade-long process, he came to fully understand the ten core systems of Shan martial arts, which he then preserved, shared, taught, and passed on to subsequent generations. The true essence of Lai Moon is the transformation of an original, ancient battlefield art of survival the brutal art of taking life into a tender, beautiful modern performing art meant to preserve traditions and enlighten the new generation. But do not forbid the use of the art in acts of self-defense.
