Hello Saipan Tennis Academy Players and Parents,

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer, wherever they may be. I’ve enjoyed my two trips off island and my stateside family visiting me here on Saipan. I’ve had a great time but now I’m very excited to see everyone back on the court again.

July is coming to a close, which means the start of Saipan Tennis Academy’s junior group lessons is just around the corner.
The Monday, Wednesday, & Friday Advanced Intermediate and Top Gun groups will begin August 8th. The Advanced intermediate group will be from 3:30-4:30 and the Top Gun group lessons from 4:30-5:45 followed by a strength and conditioning workout from 5:45-6:00.
Beginner youth classes will start August 9th and will run from 3:30-4:30 that will be followed by an advanced beginners class from 4:30-5:30.

Space is limited, so please email or message me if you would like to secure a spot in one of the classes, and don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions about the upcoming lessons. I know that some people are still off island or are going on trips in the next few weeks, so I will be offering a prorated option for August to better accommodate the players and families in this situation.

Tennis is a passion of mine, so as always, I look forward to more fun and learning with all the players. Have a great day!

Best,
Coach Peter

Hi Everyone, I would just like to say farewell to Coach Luke one more time. He is a great coach, player and person, and he will be sorely missed. You can tell a lot about a person from the way they play tennis and carry themselves on the court, and from playing with you Luke, I can tell you are going to continue to be successful no matter where you are.
Luke Safe travels and keep in touch.

An important message from Coach Peter:

Greetings and Happy New Year Saipan Tennis Academy Parents and Players,

As we are all aware, at the end of this month Coach Luke will be leaving us to pursue an opportunity in Hawaii as the Director of Tennis at Kukio Beach. Starting next week I will be taking over Saipan Tennis Academy and will be doing my best to make this transition process as smooth as possible.
I’ve been working closely with Luke to arrange a schedule that will hopefully work for everyone, and as I am going to honor my existing contract with Garapan Elementary School to finish the remainder of the school year as a 6th grade teacher, I will have to make a few adjustments to the tennis schedule so that it and my school schedule will both work.
After much consideration and discussion with Luke on what we both think will work best with my current availability in mind, the Monday- Wednesday -Friday 3:30 group will be promoted to the 4:30 slot and combined with those existing 3 players. This new group will have a lot more opportunity to engage in different drills and games because of this combination, something I’m very excited about, and will be the most cohesive in terms of ability level.
The Tuesday – Thursday groups will stay the same with either Mika Lopez, Moris Villanueva or Tommy Choi leading the 3:30 time slot until I can get there.
Please know that this is only a short-term solution to this current situation. The summer class schedule will begin in June and next August I will be back to the “normal” calendar of classes. I understand that this new temporary arrangement might not be ideal for everyone, but with your continued support I am confident that it will be successful for the next few months until school is out.
Thank you in advance for your understanding as we move forward into this new phase of tennis instruction at Saipan Tennis Academy. I appreciate your patience during this transition process.
If you have any questions or concerns about this or anything else, please feel free to contact me via phone or email.
Sincerely,

Peter Loken

I have a bitter/sweet feeling as the next chapter of my and my family's lives continue. Saipan has been magical to us. Directing Saipan Tennis Academy has been a dream come true for me in so many ways. I will remember every player and will be forever grateful to the tennis community of Saipan.

And now it is with great excitement and anticipation to hand over the reigns to my friend, and skilled tennis teaching professional, Peter Loken. I know that tennis development on Saipan can only get better and better.

Anderson beats Murray in US Open boilover, faces Wawrinka in quarters 08/09/2015

One of the most striking things I remember about Kevin Anderson while playing junior tournaments with/against him is that after every match (win or lose) he stayed on the court and spent about an hour hitting balls with his dad, correcting missed shots and opportunities. There's absolutely no substitute for hard work. Congratulations Kevin on one of the biggest wins of your life! South Africa is proud!
