The IOM Malteser2X is an evolution design of the IOM Malteser which was previously designed by Mark Dicks

After testing various boat designs, Darren Abdilla got inspired to create a club winning IOM boat by using all the knowledge and studies learned over the years. It's with a heavy heart 💔 and a great deal of sadness that I have to share some news. I've made the difficult and emotional decision to retire the Malteser brand from the IOM Class. ⛵️

This brand has been a huge part of my life, and honestly, this decision was anything but easy. 😔 For years, your support has fueled our passion. Every time a Malteser boat hit the water or a set of Malteser sails helped secure a great finish, it was a source of immense pride. 🏆 Thank you to everyone who has ever supported us, you are the reason this journey was so memorable. 🙏

We are closing out our commitments responsibly:

- The 2024 production run was the last for the Malteser boat. 🛥️

- We have delivered all the sail orders and officially retired the Malteser sails from the market on August 1st, 2025. 🗓️

Thank you for being the best community a brand could ask for. It's truly been an honor. 💙

MMBA IOM Summer Cup 2025 – 31st May 2025

What a spectacular finish to the MMBA first half of the 2025 sailing calendar!

Huge congratulations to Darren Abdilla, who sailed the first-generation Malteser to perfection, finishing with an incredible 12 points from 12 races, a flawless and commanding performance! 👏🏆

Equally impressive was Ivan Zammit, who secured a strong 2nd overall sailing his Malteser2X (M2X). Ivan showed consistency, skill, and determination throughout the day. Well done! 💪🥈

This was the final race before the summer break, and we witnessed great competition, top-class sailing, and fantastic sportsmanship all around. Racing resumes in October 2025 in Malta, and we can't wait to see what the rest of the season holds!

The first IOM race of 2025 in Malta, organized by the MMBA, kicked off today in spectacular fashion!

Darren Abdilla, sailing the Orca design, delivered a stellar performance, claiming 5 first-place finishes. Despite facing challenges, including a DNS and two other setbacks, Darren's skill and resilience shone through, proving he was in a league of his own.

The Orca paired with Malteser sails, is the winning combination.
