Isolation exercises are those used to tackle one specific muscle group or joint โ€˜in isolationโ€™.

While in reality no exercise will only use one muscle group, isolation exercises specifically target one area.

Although isolation exercises can be very simple, they are best used once you have built good over-all strength, so are typically used in more advanced training routines.

โœ… Keep your feet shoulder-width apart

โœ… Keep your knees in line with the toes

โœ… Drive your knees outwards as you come up

โœ… Maintain a neutral spine throughout the squat (no flexion or extension of the spine)

โœ… Keep your shoulders down and back

โœ… Keep the weight in your midfoot (avoid raising the toes or the heels)
