What an incredible experience to be part of Dance Festival Malta!

Yesterday, four of our company members - Santea Aquilina, Mattea Bianchi, Sophie Borg Barthet and Ella Sciberras - performed the beautiful piece Qolla before an intimate audience at Spazju Kreattiv.

The idea to recreate this powerful work by Tanya Bayona was conceived by Francesca Tranter, who entrusted the work to our Artistic Director, Sara Bianchi. Ms Bayona mentored Ms Bianchi throughout the process, with the invaluable assistance of Nicoletta Pizzicotti.

The performance was an emotional and moving recreation that touched everyone present, especially those who had witnessed the original performance years ago. Adding to the occasion, Joe Friggieri recited his original poem Qolla live as the dancers brought the piece to life.

We are immensely proud of all those involved. Congratulations to our dancers and to everyone who contributed to making this such a memorable and heartfelt performance💙

Today, our Scholars Ballet students proudly participated in the Youth Dance Platform as part of the Dance Festival Malta organised by Festivals Malta. During the event, our students presented two original works.

Accompanying the students throughout this event was Ms Fiona Anastasi, our Education Director, who also choreographed both dances.

The performances were followed by an engaging discussion, where students were encouraged to share their thoughts and perspectives on dance and the arts. The session was led by Dr Paula Guzzanti, Head of the Dance Studies Department at the University of Malta.

Earlier in the day, our students also took part in contemporary and ballet workshops, enjoying valuable learning experiences alongside fellow young dancers.

A big thanks goes to Ms Francesca Tranter for this amazing opportunity.

We are incredibly proud to celebrate a significant milestone for the Academy of Dance Arts.

This year marked the very first time that our students sat for the MATSEC O’Level in Dance, and we couldn’t be happier with their achievements. Our students obtained an outstanding set of results, achieving 𝟭𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝟮𝘀.

Congratulations to all our students on this fantastic achievement, and a heartfelt thank you to their teacher Ms Nico for her commitment and dedication. We are excited to see many more students follow in your footsteps in the years ahead.
