Muscle and tendon don’t recover or need to be loaded in the same way. 👀🦵
-
💪 Muscle: commonly 6–12 reps at ~60–80% 1RM, with progression often coming through more training volume (sets and reps), while maintaining an appropriate load.
🦵Tendon: tends to be more intensity-dependent, often progressing towards 70–85% 1RM, increasing the load while repetitions gradually come down and overall volume is kept more controlled.
⏱️ And the timelines can differ too:
- Muscle injuries: roughly 1–8 weeks, depending on grade and severity.
- Tendon involvement: anywhere from 6–12+ weeks and sometimes considerably longer.
That gap matters. Someone may feel better and regain muscle function before the tendon has rebuilt enough capacity for higher loads and speed.
-
That’s why at AdvanceU, we place a major focus on exercise prescription, choosing the right volume, intensity and progression for the tissue being rehabilitated. Application is key!

📌 Timelines shown are indicative examples only. Recovery varies according to injury type, grade, severity, tissue involved and individual response.
Don’t just become pain-free. Rebuild the capacity to perform.💪⚡
