The quote above was the mantra of Pina Bausch one of the most important performing artist of the last decades. Pina- who was settled in Essen, Germany passed away few days after my arrival in the Country. I was a little girl with dancing feet and my passion for contemporary dance was leading me towards a journey which- now I realised- changed my life. Years have passed and so I changed according life’s seasons but I still keep with me the gift of being present.

Being fully present in the very moment is a mandatory requirement for a performer. It’s the juice of art. Once on the stage the performer must act as each and every movement would be the last, each body part is a channel to expand the energy from the centre through the body and beyond. If performed with full consciousness movement can generate a vibration in the room, so that the ensemble can capture and hypnotise the attention of the public. Have you ever experienced this magic, to be captured?

Put your self in a quiet space, especially in these particular days. Allow yourself to be present, do no fear what is coming. Try to make some space within your body, create a routine and try to act as a performer: with full awareness. And if this new awareness will bring you to a mat, enjoy the journey. You will discover that this vibration is within yourself. You will hypnotise nobody but yourself, and it will be beautiful.
