What an honour for our Katrina Micallef!

She will be carrying the Maltese flag during the closing ceremony of the XX Mediterranean Games in Taranto later on this evening.

🇲🇹 Carrying the flag for Malta at tomorrow's Closing Ceremony of the XX Mediterranean Games in Taranto will be Katrina Micallef (Sailing) and Jeremy Zammit (Athletics).

A memorable moment to close out Team Malta's campaign at these Games.

🏆 World Top 10 for Malta in Aarhus! 🇩🇰

Katrina Micallef has just finished 8th in the World at the 2026 ILCA 6 Youth World Championships in Aarhus, Denmark — out of 122 sailors from 45 nations. She was awarded a special plaque presented by Danish sailing legend and three-time Olympic medallist Anne-Marie Rindom.

Very positive results were registered by Jonas Micallef placed 27th in the Men's fleet (out of 307!) and Kaine Muscat, competing in the Silver Fleet, finished 19th U17 — Malta's best-ever results at this championship.

Katrina Micallef, Jonas Micallef and Kaine Muscat are flying the Maltese flag at the 2026 ILCA 6 Youth World Championships in Aarhus, Denmark, racing against 428 sailors from 46 nations from 14 to 19 August.

Guiding them on the water are coaches Alex Denisiuc, Karlis Junkers and Tomek Vaccaro.

Our sailors continue their international commitments 2026 Ora Cup in Garda🇲🇹⛵

Gianni Bianchi, Jaime Escudero, Marko Kuvichkin, George Podesta, Jari Schaefer Dorn and Ben Spiteri Bailey — the same squad that competed at the Trofeo Simone Lombardi — are out on the water for one last day of competition.

They'll round off the trip at the Gold Cup in Riva del Garda.

We're proud to see our RMYC Sailing School sailors, Jacob Delia and Samantha Axisa, representing Malta at the 2026 ILCA 4 Youth World Championships in Aarhus, which are currently taking place in Denmark 🇩🇰

Competing on the world stage is a fantastic achievement, and we wish Jacob and Samantha fair winds and the very best throughout the championship!

A huge shoutout to our team — Gianni Bianchi, Jaime Escudero, Marko Kuvichkin, George Podesta, Jari Schaefer Dorn, and Ben Spiteri Bailey — led by Head Coach Ruya Cakmakli and accompanied by Rachel Ferry.

A huge well done to our sailors who proudly represented Malta and the Royal Malta Yacht Club Sailing School at the 2026 Optimist European Championships in Gdynia, Poland.

👏 Ethan Kodjaazliev delivered an outstanding performance, finishing 13th overall in the Gold Fleet.

👏 Gianni Bianchi also competed brilliantly, securing 36th overall out of 170 boys.

👏 Polina Chaplytska sailed consistently throughout the championship, qualifying for the Silver Fleet and finishing 84th overall out of 122 girls.

Once again we would like to thanks BeActive - SportMalta, Malta Sailing Federation, Maltese Olympic Committee, and the Royal Malta Yacht Club for their continued support and commitment to helping our young sailors compete and excel on the international stage.
