A huge congratulations to Keegan from NCC on being named Player of the Tournament in the NCC Challenge Trophy!

Heading into the final, there were a few players firmly in contention for the award. With everything still to play for, Keegan stepped up when it mattered most, producing a brilliant innings in the final to separate himself from the pack and secure the title.

To achieve this in his debut season for the club makes it even more special. A fantastic tournament with both bat and ball, capped off by a match winning performance on the biggest stage.

Congratulations, Keegan a well deserved award and surely the first of many. Big things ahead for this lad! 👏🏏🔥

A massive well done to Jameel (MECC), our Leading Wicket Taker, who led the charts from Game 1 right through to the final. Consistent, disciplined and lethal with the ball, he never gave the chasing pack a chance. Outstanding tournament, Jameel! 🔥🎯

And congratulations to Keegan (NCC), our Batsman of the Tournament. Sitting 5th on the run-scoring charts before the final, he produced a clutch innings when his team needed it most, climbing to the top and claiming the award. What a knock and what a finish to the tournament! 💪🏏

🍾 Champagne Moment of the Day 🍾

This week’s Champagne Moment goes to our very own skipper, Matty, for taking NCC’s third-ever hat-trick 👏👏👏

Now, if we’re being honest, hat-tricks are starting to get a bit boring around here… three of them already? Standards have clearly dropped 😂

Joking aside, it was a brilliant achievement and a fantastic spell of bowling when it mattered most.

Three wickets in three balls is something special at any level, and it was great to witness in what turned out to be a final that will live long in the memory. The pressure was on, and Matty delivered in style.

As if the hat-trick wasn’t enough, he also claims a place on the honours board with a superb 5-wicket haul. Add in his contribution with the bat, and it’s no surprise he takes home the Man of the Match award as well.

A hat-trick, a five-for, a spot on the honours board, and MOTM in the final — not a bad day’s work, Skip 🍻🏏👏

🤦‍♂️ Dick of the Day 🤦‍♂️

Unfortunately, there is no Dick of the Day this week…

When you go and win a final, it feels a bit harsh to hand one out 😅🏆

But don’t worry, the wig and glasses haven’t been retired. Someone will be wearing them again very soon…

🏆 NCC Challenge Trophy Champions! 🏆

Final Result:
NCC 170/3 (20 overs)
MECC 77 all out
NCC won by 93 runs

MECC won the toss and elected to bowl first. Conditions were far from ideal with overcast skies and a bit of moisture around, but NCC were ready to set a total.

An early wicket saw Geoff back in the hut, but then Matt and Keegan took control and produced a superb partnership. The pair put on 108 runs from just 75 balls, with MECC having no answer to some excellent batting.

NCC finished on 170/3 from their 20 overs, the highest score of the tournament so far.

⭐ Keegan 97 (67)* should’ve been a century, but decided to have a brain fart and block 5 balls in the 18th over 🤣🤣 Next time, son! All jokes aside, it was an absolutely class innings packed with proper cricket shots.

⭐ Matt 39 (34)

⭐ David 19 (8) with a quick-fire cameo at the end to push the total even further.

With a daunting chase ahead, it looked like a huge task for MECC. But NCC’s bowlers were fired up from ball one and never took their foot off the pedal. The wickets kept tumbling, and MECC were eventually bowled out for just 77.

⭐ Yannick: 4 overs, 2 wickets for 16 runs

⭐ Dylan: 4 overs, 3 wickets for 18 runs

But the pick of the bowlers was undoubtedly…

🔥 MATT WITH A HAT-TRICK! 🔥

Yes, you read that right another hat-trick! That makes it three hat-tricks in the tournament. When it rains, it pours, I guess 🤣🤣

What an incredible spell of bowling!

A proper all-round team performance in the final and a thoroughly deserved victory. NCC were outstanding with both bat and ball and take the Challenge Trophy home in style.

🍾 Champagne Moment of the Day & DOTD 😬

This one had every emotion possible…

Let’s paint the picture.

Earlier in the match, Marc had put down an absolute sitter. Confidence wasn’t exactly at an all-time high.

Then came the next chance.

A ball so high it looked like it had left the atmosphere. It was one of those catches where you’ve got enough time to place bets, have a pint, and still get underneath it. The thing must have been in the air for 10 seconds 😂

Marc was standing in completely the wrong place. Realising this, he starts backpedalling, throws his hands up behind his head, eyes fixed on the ball…

BANG.

Next thing we know, his head has smacked into the ground.

At this point nobody was worried about the catch anymore. The whole team was just checking if the skipper was still alive.

And what do we see?

He’s still holding the ball 😂😂😂

To this day, nobody knows how he held onto it because moments later he was sent off with a concussion, completely dazed, and apparently doesn’t even remember taking the catch in the first place 😭

Captain, my captain. Putting your body on the line for the team.

🤦‍♂️ Dick of the Day 🤦‍♂️

While some people are busy risking concussion for the club, others are having a slightly different kind of day…

Now, it’s very rare this man doesn’t succeed. In fact, we all know he can sing, and we’d love to see him up on the Wig belting out a tune for us 🎤🍺

However…

Coming home at 5am after being out at the pub the night before…

Scoring 1 run…

Putting in a woeful fielding display…

And adding multiple dropped catches to the collection…

That’s a difficult scorecard to defend.

So for a performance that can only be described as “still at the pub mentally”, this week’s Dick of the Day goes to Stean.

🏏🔥 MATCH REPORT – NOTABLES vs PLCC 🔥🏏

Captain, my Captain, Marc “Rassie” Ras taking charge… and what a charge it was! Although, judging by events of the game, he probably won’t remember much of it! 😂

The Notables won the toss and elected to bat first, posting 125 all out. A solid start came from Prabhu (33) and Seb (24), but despite their efforts, the innings never quite got the momentum it needed.

Credit must go to PLCC’s bowling attack, with Manish Kumar producing the spell of the day:

With a modest total to defend, Captain Rassie gathered the troops, delivered one of his famous team talks (parts of which may have been inspired by the cooler box 🍺), and sent the boys out fired up.

And what followed was a proper Notables performance!

💥 Wickets came early.
💥 The fielding was outstanding.
💥 The pressure kept building.
💥 And yes… there may have been a bit of chirping along the way. 😏

The game-changing spell came from Jacques, who turned the match on its head:

An outstanding effort that put PLCC under immense pressure and gave the Notables belief.

PLCC fought hard but eventually fell short, finishing on 112 all out.

😅 It was a nail-biting finish.
🏆 It was sweet revenge.
🤝 And the overall series is now tied at 1-1.

⭐ MAN OF THE MATCH: JACQUES ⭐

For his brilliant bowling spell and a valuable 15 runs with the bat when the team needed it most.
